XBOX Controller Triggers stopped working
Solved
Hi there,
I have a Gamesir XBOX controller (USB wired) which I've been using fine, but the triggers stopped working after a recent Win11 small update. The mouse buttons control the game fine, but the controller triggers refuse to work. I've tried resetting the USB controller panel in windows, deleting the game controller entries in Device manager also deleted and reinstalled the drivers for the unit. Not sure where to go from here. Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers
Dave

I have the same bug
Hello Engineer,
Thank you for letting us know about this issue that you are experiencing.
Please note that for PC, the only officially supported controllers are those for Xbox One and Xbox Series X. These should work without any problem in the game.
We did have few threads/issues regarding this problem with other controllers in the past and for those players, experiencing this problem, worked this workaround/setting (bellow). Can you please try?
1) On your PC, open Control panel, switch to Large Icons
2) Go to Devices and Printers
3) Right click on the gamepad and open 'Game Controller settings'
4) Select the controller and press 'Advanced' button
5) Select 'Controller (Xbox One For Windows)' as preferred device
6) Press 'Ok' button
Hope this helps to you as well. Please let me know.
Kind Regards,

Hi there,
I've just done that and there's no change. I did notice something yesterday in that if I switch to Creative Mode the triggers still don't work on tools, but they do work for placing blocks etc. Switching back to Survival Mode they then don't work again. The mouse buttons work on everything. Not sure why it stopeed working as there were no changes to the PC hardware and no new software installed either.
Cheers

Hello Engineer,
Thank you for the additional information.
The fact that the triggers still work when placing blocks in Creative Mode suggests that the controller input is being detected, but it may not be handled correctly in all gameplay contexts.
Since the previously recommended workaround did not help, could you please try the following:
If your GameSir controller supports different input modes, such as XInput and DirectInput, please make sure it is running in XInput mode.
Please also let us know the exact model of your GameSir controller and whether you are using any GameSir software or custom firmware.
As mentioned previously, only official Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S controllers are officially supported on PC. Since this issue started after a Windows update and the controller is not officially supported, it may be related to a change in the Windows driver or controller compatibility.
Please let us know the results of these tests.

Hi Ondrej,
The Controller is the Gamesir T3-Pro. It's plug and play using standard windows drivers. I've not got any Gamesir or custom software with it.
It's always switched on when the PC is booted.
Set the controller to default settings in-game.
In Steam I had been using the Steam disabled.
Switched to Default Settings - Controller doesn't work at all.
Switched to Enable Steam - Controller doesn't work at all.
Switched to Disable Steam Input - Game works as before, controller works but with no tools.
After a bit of searching found a key combination to see what the Mode Input was. It's set to Xinput.
I suspect you're right. It's the change of driver somewhere along the line. As I said before it was all working fine until the update. I'll see I can borrow an official Xbox controller.
Cheers

Hello Engineer,
Thank you for your replies and for taking the time to test this with different controllers.
Based on your latest update, it appears that the issue is specific to the GameSir T3-Pro, while both the original Xbox controller and the GameSir Xbox G7 HE are working correctly when Steam Input is enabled and the game is set to Classic mode.
We appreciate you sharing your findings, as they may help other players experiencing a similar issue.
Since you now have a working solution, I am going to close this thread. If you experience any further issues or have any other questions, please do not hesitate to open a new thread here on the forum.
Thank you for your cooperation.
