Plants on a subgrid die of Exposure for no apparent reason.

Won't Fix

I'm in creative mode, in space, in a pressurised environment, with irrigation system working. My planters are connected to the conveyor system. They are placed on a subgrid. They immediately start taking damage after getting planted.

I had windows at first, and assumed it's space radiation or something, but it still doesn't work with armor panels.

I made another planter on the major grid, where it worked fine, so my conclusion is that it's something with the subgrid.

Hello Jesper,

Thank you for reaching our forum with this issue.

The issue was successfully reproduced on our side and put into our internal system.

Kind Regards,

I have the same issue. I have a known airtight greenhouse and my crops die 90% of the time due to exposure. Water is fine.

It also may be related to the 'sandstorm hurts player in greenhouse' issue I've reported too. As if the greenhouse is not being recognised as fully enclosed when it is for 'airtightness'

Hello,

Thank you for reporting this issue and providing all the details. After investigation, we’ve confirmed that this behavior is a limitation of the current system. Subgrids do not share airtightness or pressurization data with the main grid, which is why farm plots placed on subgrids are not recognized as being in a protected environment.

We are very sorry about this and we understand the frustration it can cause. Unfortunately, since this is not something we can change within the current system, we will need to close this ticket as “won’t fix.”

To ensure proper functionality, farm plots need to be placed directly on the main grid in a pressurized environment.

Oh damn, that's a shame. I finished my blueprint with the assumption that it's gonna be fixed. Is there any chance it will get patched eventually? Some workaround?

I have this issue all on the same large grid though. I've uploaded my save to another related bug where sandstorms also get inside airtight rooms. Again all on the same large grid.

You should seriously reconsider fixing this issue. I know that vrage2 has limitations and that SE1 is quite old, but since the engine is developed in house, you can fix this. The player has an oxygen probe, nothing is stopping you from extending this functionality to the farm plot.

Normally i wouldn't be complaining about these problems, if this was a minor issue, but this is a potentially game breaking bug, you decided not to fix, not even a week after the update has dropped.

I wouldn't call it "game breaking", but it's a real turn-off. Can't make any centrifugal farms inside a zero-g environment, only ones big enough to be enclosed themselves.

Perhaps there could be a world setting that would make subgrid planters immune to exposure (or all planters)? Servers would keep it disabled for balance, and private players can be their own judge. Such a feature ought to be easier to implement.

Not being able to grow plants in a survival game/mode is very much game breaking. I have this issue with no subgrids and a verified airtight room

I find your response to be absolute bullshit. If the player can detect when it's in a pressurized environment and be able to pressurize it's airtanks, then the farm plots should have the same detectable functionality with regards to oxygen. Just because you're not smart enough to figure it out right this moment, doesn't mean it's acceptable for you to just give up, right after you charged us money for this content. Either make sure it works, or give everyone a refund.

The alternative is to add a "vacuum ready" farm plot with a plastic bubble that gets it's own O2 supply from an O2 generator, connected to the grid like the irrigation plot as a workaround for your failure to plan ahead and sheer laziness...
