Prevent defender from repairing during attack

Whenever we have done any kind of sieging, defender could just walk up to the damaged block, that had 1 particle left and repair it to full HP with 3 hammer swings. For wooden structures, it often takes no resources at all to repair, rendering the structure invincible as long as the defender is inside! There should be some way to prevent this during the attack, but how would the game know there is an "attack" going on? When does it officialy stop being an attack? Any suggestions?

Would you prevent players from building every time a barbarian is near? That seems like it would get annoying very fast.
