A step counter counts events, a timer counts time.

Using the pause function on a timer does not generate accurate measurement of logical actions, it can measure a timings. Different events may have different timings, this is not the same as counting the number of events. A step counter will count the number of events.

Counter step could run up to <max limit> or down to 0

A step counter could have a trigger limit at which it could operate a switch.

A step counter could be reset by an event.

A step counter is a valuable tool to have when it comes to automation.

Possible optional feature of the step counter could be the translation of the step value into another value like a distance, a percentage, or a rotation for use with other blocks.
