[IDEA] Modular Thrust & Advanced Mechanics

Not Enough Votes

Thrust has a common theme in SE1, there isn't enough. Hence why there are so many thruster mod packs. The majority of them increase the Forces to accommodate the mass of bigger builds or introduce features that should be vanilla anyways like Flame color just to name one.

I like the 3 types, Atmospheric, Hydrogen and Ion.

But they are all shaped the same (Long tube-like) , except for the half block atmospheric thrusters (Flat Disk-like).

I say we need a varied approach moving forward with the following ideas:

  1. Thruster Fuel Hybridization
  2. Thruster Profile/Shape
  3. Thruster Features & Visual effects

Thruster Fuel Hybridization

  • Atmospherics can run on just electricity but if piped to Hydrogen can be H2 injected creating boosted thrust force.
  • The same can be applied to Ionic thrusters, they can run on just electricity also but if piped to Hydrogen can be H2 injected creating boosted thrust force.

The introduction of this property can reduce the need for "Thruster spam" keeping builds sleek and form fitting. Reducing the need for constant retrofitting or from suffering with underpowered thrusters, engineers would have the flexibility to develop their builds in unique ways in a more efficient package. Also this allows for future expansion for alternative compound fuels for the Modding community. Example, H2 engines with Nitrous?

Thruster Profile/ShapeMods Like the the one from Sektan have introduced the ability to make thrust in new and interesting shapes with Modular Thrusters. I am sure many people can say this made their Millennium Falcon build way easier with these. Let's expand on the concept. 95a0252f71fff16efd8f7e5c5bdf6b1736ec0dae64fac6250df9178c6efe18dd

What do I mean? New designs that have a comprehensive balanced set of Flat Laminar flow hybrid thrusters.

  • We can have Cylindrical shaped thrust that Looks like a "Dyson Fan" allowing pass through access if they were extremely large.

  • We can have flat shaped thrust that Looks like the back end of the Millennium Falcon for that obvious look and profile of the iconic ship.

We can have Puck shaped thrusters

  • Electro-Gravitics: If we have Gravity generators why is there no use of Anti gravity thrust ?

Thruster Features & Visual effects

  • Lets make the ability to choose your thrust color possible.

  • One more thing... Hover pads, if not for thrust can we at least have them attached to wheel suspensions?

There is tons of support for different thrust features and many over lap with these threads. I'd definitely like to see more variety in the thrust design department. Some of the mods in the community are gorgeous and I would love to see them incorporated in SE2.

How about the ability to make angled Flat thrust options without having to sub-grid?

Modular thrusters like Sektans' would fit the bill.
