Space Engineers 2 Mac Support

Well, it's as simple as that really, there is not a lot of games on Mac, and I think you could capitalise on that. I am also biased as I really want to play the game, and I don't have a PC.

I think that you can run Windows10 on some Macs, not sure how SE will function though.

You can run it on Intel Macs, since Apple switched to their own processors they don’t support it. However, ChatGPT seems pretty convinced Windows 11 ARC runs on Mac with parallels though “performance is a hit or miss.”.

Anyone who can afford a Mac that can handle games also has enough money to buy a proper PC. Looking at the prices now, the ratio is 2x or even 3x — meaning you pay double or triple for a Mac with the same performance as a PC.

Sorry, but I believe the development resources needed for a Mac version — which very likely comes with a million quirks — would be better spent elsewhere. I don’t think there should be a Mac client.

You can play on GeForce Now with a Mac. I used it for years on my iMac. This game finally convinced me to switch to PC though because GFN has a sync issue with games that don't save on the Steam Cloud which wipes build progress.

This game won't ever come to Mac for the same reason most games don't come to Mac... low GPU performance with not many cores and lack of cooling to make their products look more aesthetically pleasing. I love using Macs over PC for everyone reason except the lack of ability to play 95% of games.

I see that there are a few external GPUs available for mac that can solve some of the issues that you have raised.

Yeah but then it's a matter of spending a significant amount of resources to make the game work on Mac and offer constant support just to capture maybe the 0.5% of the Mac market using them. It's not profitable for any game company to do this if they don't think the game can just run on a standard Mac with no external upgrades. If it can't run on a Macbook from 2020 then there is really no money to be made. (Which plenty of games do and can... just not powerhouse games like SE.)

GeForce Now is only $50 for 6 months. That's really the best deal anyone can get for a gaming setup and I imagine more developers will rely on people using cloud gaming services to expand their player base as opposed to spending extra resources on developing for different platforms.

Some mac builds are over 10k, but I think if you are in this category, then buy a gaming PC on the side, only use it for Space Engineers, and nothing else. There can be only one clang!
