Windows Triangle issue

NitroCell shared this bug 4 months ago
Not a Bug

"Windows Triangle Side" can't be placed connected with "Windows Triangle Slanted Inverted" despite them meeting perfectly flushed with each other.

If you think we can bring this beautiful couple together.. this would help spread the love among engineers, cure unflushed bezels and peace.. a match made in space... engineers 2.

Call now, best regards, your friendly nei.. engineer,

Note: also a problem with the 2x1 flat window

Could be solved by adding a version of the flat windows that have no diagonal bezel, and fit flush with the bezel. Might cause clipping issues, but that is a small price to pay for flush windows

i have reported this issues already but they does not fix it and i even made a ticket about it.. and still no answer and is about 2 months now since i posted it and almost 1 month since i reported it as ticket

don't worry they stated that in VS 1.6 they'll address player feedbacks so it's likely they'll start taking care of a lot of this nuances right there and then

Since we are in a voxel world where only one object can occupy any given space at a time, the likely only fix would be a new window piece that combines the 'flat' (top) triangle piece with the 'angled' triangle piece.

Such a piece would also require a 'left' and a 'right' version.

That would also simplify future airtight spaces problems.

Ya. Unless voxels can overlap in specials cases, this probably needs another window triangle slanted inverted piece with a flat side. The mirroring could probably still be handled with just rotation.

I don't think I've ever had a build that needed 2 or 3 flat sides, but that might be desirable as well.

This affects all windows with diagonal edges. In another similar scenario, I was attempting to make an octagonal tube with flush mounted window cap, but I cannot place the Light Armor Slope 0.5m nor the Detailing Slope 0.25m flush against the frame edge.

Hello NitroCell,

Unfortunately, this is a limitation of cubical grid. Even though the sloped window piece visually fits, it's sloped side occupies half of another 25cm grid spot which prevents other blocks from being placed in that spot.

I have passed info about this problem to our Designers who will look in to that, please note however, that due to large amount of work needed for release of the next Vertical Slice this may take longer time to process.

Kind Regards,

Thanks for the response and while i do know about the limitation beforehand my intention is to bring forth matters of this kind, it's a matter of "do better" situation. This is a known fact for all of us since SE1 and havok can handle convex hull collisions, but setting aside the more complex shape colliders, this is something that should've been addressed from the get go.
