Teleportation of components rather than Tether SE2

So this is based on the idea we all love and keep waiting for.

Rather than making actual tether, create a block a jump drive/laser antenna hybrid.

It would teleport items between 2 inventories, one attaches to grid number1, the other to grid number 2 (conveyor ports) and items can flow freely between the grids.

This way you don't need to model and bother with the tether, and we dont have to waste PCU on long snakes of hinges to reach certain grids.

Limit the range to some 100 meters max or so, so it cant be exploited to teleport across the server or something.

I made the same suggestion for SE1 too.

I don't know, not a fan of the idea, but when it should be definitely late endgame.

Teleporting feels every time like a cheap solution for a problem that comes often from laziness and if you start with something like that it opens discussions about "Hey, when we already have teleporting, why not for this and that as well?" So I would be very careful to give such players an argument for it. XD

Not in SE2 and you see? Jump Drive and your idea would already bring 2 teleportation systems into the game, then we can do directly more! /s

What kind of argument is event that?? SE2 has barely started, they will introduce more blocks, without any doubt jump drives will be there.


And yes, there should be more teleportation ingame, we should have teleportation chambers so players can visit different locations, without playing with timers and medbays.

That is not lazy, it is simply saving time. If you dont like it and think its lazy you can always walk.

100% Oppose this.

This kind of dumbed down magic is bad for gameplay. Now when you mine you no longer need to transport it to be just teleport it? I get it that players are lazy but there has to be a limit to how easy things can be made.

Also for PVP this would take out the risk/reward of mining/looting as you could instantly teleport the goods with no risk. The jump drive already sucks out a lot of the fun, no need to make the situation any worse.


If this is some kind of tick box on a menu admins can enable/disable then ok but definitely shouldn't be a default in the base game.
