[Idea] Convex/Angled, Curved/Rounded; Automatic Hull Smoothing Tools
{Exclaimer: I am not a Programmer or scripter, I posses knowledge regarding Game development enough to come up with some ideas without straying to far from what's possible.}
So I had a Thought pattern going, why stick strictly with blocks. In Blender there's a tool called Bool or Boolean which is also a common programming state, AKA binary triggers. With the Blender tool you can take two objects and set the difference to remove or leave behind specific overlapping features or hollow points. What am I getting at here, well if you say create a in-game tool that allows you to cover an armor region with a "Blanket", a plane that can subdivide itself and restrict itself to angular and positional boundaries based on contact, and then either use that to fit and place the best angled or curved blocks, or use the "Blanket" itself as the armor profile using visuals or a physical undefined block. Couldn't this solve the problem of being forced to look through countless armor shapes to get the right one?
P.S. I'm in-between meds currently any responses after this may be fragmented but I'm interested to see commentary.

Upvote for visibility but I am not expecting this to be added in base game, however this a really cool idea for modders to figure out with custom "blocks". Select at minimum three vertices and confirm to apply a new smooth round blanket of a material like bulletproof glass, light/heavy armor, colored/textured space canvas.

This is doable. Children of a Dead Earth creates a custom armor shape based on the underlying geometry of the modules and some player-toggled options such as Concave or Square.
