Device for long range photography and image processing

The standard SE camera has a good amount of zoom, but current day satellite imagery is much better.
I would like to see an advance camera version with a slightly better zoom than the standard camera, and one that could take an image snapshot.
The still image can be viewed immediately and display on an LCD, but can also be processed over a time period to give much greater detail.
This would allow surveillance of anomalous areas of a planets surface from space without getting too close or for deep space observation.
The time delay in the image processing is a requirement to give value to the task. My guess is that processing should take between 5 and 10 minutes.

Mission planning.
Now, what I would really like to do next would be to take the processed image to the holographic table and display the 2d image for review and then switch from the image to a 3d profile of the terrain around the target area with a big red X on the target spot on the 3d map.
I have seen this in the movies, so close to seeing it in game.
Sent out a scout drone, took some pictures, sent them back to base, processed interesting images, displayed the image and local area, planned the mission, assembled the crew, readied the kit, go time.
(I may need a 3d terrain scanner on the scout drone as well)

One of my first objectives in every space game I've ever played has been to create a satellite and take a screenshot of where I am from orbit. Currently, Garry's Mod's "Spacebuild" has been the most "realistic" in this sense, as the camera was actually directly affected by lots of lenses I placed in front of it, allowing me to effectively zoom in an otherwise unmodifiable camera. Cool experience. I was shocked, when playing KSP, that there was no parts that served this function. Here's hoping we can get it in SE2! I would love to have to manually map out planets in this way.
