Choppy Mouse

Need More Information

Hi, I've been experiencing mouse issues since I purchased SE2 back when it released. It's very choppy, and it doesn't seem to really matter where I am.

Video: https://i.imgur.com/WUCbJEM.mp4 (couldn't upload here, it's too big).

In the video, you can see it's quite choppy and sometimes likes to snap. I also noticed that just moving looks a bit choppy as well when I was moving left and right in the beginning.

I have tried changing my DPI, sensitivity in the OS and SE2 itself, FOV, vsync, and changing graphics settings (quality and resolution)

Specs:

CPU: Ryzen 7 7800X3D

GPU: AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT

RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR5 6000 CL30 (2x16)

OS: Windows 11 Pro

Game Drive: NVMe Samsung 990 Pro 2TB

Main Monitor: MSI G321Q 2560x1440 170hz, plugged in with DP

Mouse: Logitech G502 X

If you need any additional information or want me to try some things, then just let me know, I'm happy to do so.

Thanks a lot! :)

Hello Daniel W,

That is indeed visibly choppy, have you tried updating your GPU drivers or verifying Game files on Steam? Also, do you experience any performance drops while playing?

You can find drivers for your GPU here:

Please try update the drivers and if that does not help, verify Game files on Steam. You could also try enabling VSync - it will default your FPS to 60 however or if your hardware supports it, VRR (Variable Refresh Rate - option for it should be present in the Game's Display Settings if your hardware supports it).

Let me know afterwards if the issue persists.

Hi, thanks for the response.

I have tried what you suggested, but the issue still persists. My drivers were up-to-date as well, and there were no issues with the files after I verified them. Regarding VSync, the issue still persists; it obviously doesn't feel good at 60fps, and it's still skipping a lot. Besides that, framerate is fine, I'm not experiencing any drops.

Hello Daniel W,

Does your mouse use any specific software? As I couldn't reproduce your issue on my end, the only thing that comes to mind is to try with another mouse that does not use any fancy software. I suspect that there might be some features that cause this.

Please try again using a mouse without dedicated software, anything cheap really and let me know if this helps.

Hi, I use Logitech G HUB, but the issue still persists when I close it. I also tried using my MX3S and G402, but I have the same issue with those. Also, I noticed that It's a lot smoother if I go to low settings, but I still get the big lag spikes every few seconds which messes up the camera.

I've just installed SE2 on my HP ZBook Ultra G1a and it's quite smooth (on low), but I do see a bit more jittering when just moving left/right. The mouse feels a lot better though, and I'm not getting the big lag spikes on that like I am with my main PC.

Hello Daniel W,

That's interesting, could you please provide us with Dxdiag from both of your devices? Additionally, do you have any other software running in the background on your main PC that is not on your HP notebook? And have you used the same mouse on both devices?

Dxdiag is an app which is included in Windows OS:

  1. In Run bar type: dxdiag
    8ee40b61f4b69730a7890c6a4693134c
  2. Once the app finishes gathering information, press Save All Information - this will create a text file that you can attach here

Hi, I've just got the usual stuff running, nothing that's eating resources (besides windows itself, even after debloating).

I say usual stuff as in firefox, steam, spotify, etc.. I've closed all my other programs like VS2022, 10x, remedybg, and all the other unnecessary stuff for testing as well.

Regarding the mice, I have tested them on both computers.

I can test on my other PC at a later date as well if needed, I'm just in the middle of moving and there's nowhere to put it right now. It's got an NVIDIA 2080S though, so it might be useful to test with that.
