Grid Attached To Hinge Exploding

I have built a large hangar door on a hinge, built inside a carved out asteroid.

I need my hinge min degrees to be ~90 and max to be ~180.

Bug A: Hinge settings don't seem to save, and get reset, not all settings, but particularly the max degrees seems to be reset to 100.

Bug B: It might be related to bug A, but after 5-10 minutes, the entire door will move with extreme velocity and explode, causing damage to my base and ships nearby. It causes so much damage and is so violent that I have to revert the save. I don't know what exactly is causing the door to freak the hell out and explode. When I trigger the door before it explodes, it goes up and down nicely. It literally just randomly explodes.

I made sure there is a gap between the hangar door and everything else, there is no collision possible as long as my hinge settings stay correct. I could theorize that if there is a bug resetting my hinge settings, it could be trying to move into the main grid, colliding, building up force, then exploding.

I built my entire base around this garage door feature, but for now i have to tear it down cause it keeps happening.

Bruh.... this is the feedback forum not the bug forum...

A tricky question: Which block did you start building your base from?

Did you attach the door to the base (connected to the asteroid), or the base to the door?

I started with the base, using light armor half block pieces to shape the frame around the door. The frame was built off of the asteroid. After the frame was done, I attached a hinge to the frame, and then built "the door" attached to the hinge.

So you did it more or less correctly.

Another question: did a situation ever arise where one block tried to intrude into another block? This happens very easily in places where two blocks are right next to each other and one of them is moving along a curved path.

According to the picture, the hinge is on the top edge of the door—the bottom edge moves along a curved path...

It might be worth experimenting with creating the edges of the door panel from differently shaped, “trimmed” blocks — so that a portion of the block is missing on the frame side. That way, the block forming the door’s edges wouldn’t catch on other blocks.

Of course, there’s no guarantee that Klang won’t reappear.

Yes, I tried to explain this in the bug report. I ensured that if my hinge settings save properly, the door would NEVER intrude onto another block. However, I noticed my hinge settings getting reset, and if that is the case, there is a chance the door tries to "over-close" or "over-open" which would then cause collisions.

You can see in my screenshot that the lowest walls I placed 1 block "up" to ensure a gap with the floor. But if the doors settings get reset and it opens too far, it would collide with the door frame potentially.

There is one more possibility—namely, that the trimmed block has a trimmed visual model, but the collision model is a complete cube (not trimmed). And it is the collision model that is causing the problems.
