Why is there nothing in SE2 like a medical component ?

May be engineers are just welded up like everything else.

Looks like there is a huge chunk of missing.

I would like to believe that engineers are biological organisms.

If they are biological then they need biological things to support their existence.

There are some basics in SE2 for an engineers health.

I have been hoping for the 10x game and using SE1 as baseline that gameplay would leap forward.

The health system of the engineer is in a very basic state.

SE2 can do better, even 5x would be OK.

How are engineers rebuilt?

There is both the survival kit and the medical room. They both recharge your health.

This point is acknowledged in the post. Is the engineer a robot ?

SE1 had medical components used in the build of survival kits, cryo chambers and medical rooms SE2 has none.

Having a medical component is an acknowledgement that the engineer is an organic lifeform.

There were problems too with the re-clone magic in SE1, but the 10x in SE2 is invisible for health system. The current heath provision feature in SE2 is less than 1x of SE1, because there are no medical components or medical repair packs.

For a 10x game I would expect a lot more, it would not take much to improve on SE2 alpha's sub 1x heath system.

I posted images from early Star trek to make my point. Immersion is created from the little things that are not necessary for gameplay, but create a detailed setting filling the environment. Incidentals and functional detail make a good game into a great game. 10x will be difficult to achieve without such features.

But we don't have any medical components in our own real-universe medical devices, either. It's all your normal stuff that is used in other devices, too. Computer circuit boards, electric motors, metal rods, hinges, rotors, displays, and what have you.

If you have to have a medical probe inserted into you which component would you prefer to be used?

The easy answer would be a medical component, the other components that you have mentioned may offer more pain than healing.

A medical component is a vague coverall idea of a thing, it suggests something without going into detail. Not having such a thing, and using standard components suggests a form of horror.

Many games have things like bandages, pharmaceuticals, and tissue reconstruction devices. Medical basics like bodily systems functional monitoring are not difficult to imply. They could even be a feature on a character's stats as used in some games.

A characters bodily health is a big part of most games, your character either has health or they are dead. Hunger, fatigue, and stress levels have the potential to impact a characters performance, blood loss and injury could play a role too. Temperature, oxygen percentage, and sensory impairment could be factors as well.

I am suggesting that SE2 could go further on the subject of character health than SE1 did, SE2 alpha in its current form is not pushing this part of the game forward. Some players would argue that it is not necessary, and other game elements should take priority. My argument is that the medical side of the game is something that should not be forgotten or belittled, but instead it should be embraced and expanded.
