Missing Items

Need More Information

I had 11 metal grids in my player inventory. I interacted with the contract terminal, looked at a few storage chest inventories, and boom, now I have 1. nothing was built, nothing was dropped, nothing was purchased or sold. I have noticed this on previous occasions, but never was absolutely sure. Figured I was imagining it. This time, I caught it.

Repeatable? I don't know. I'll keep an eye on it.

Hello Josh,

I could not reproduce this issue. Have you tried verifying the Game files after update?

I noticed in the mission to deliver 50k iron, I put 52k and it ate all 52k, which is interesting because most missions like salvage etc you can take all components after the mission ends.

I experienced multiple instances of this – all from various interactions however; this one description describes three different circumstances:

1 – As previously described, putting in more than the consignment request for (i.e. for me, 5200 gold instead of 5000.) It ate them all, when the expected behavior would have been more along the lines of a “auto-split” – take the 5000, leave 200.

2 – Multiple instances of dropping items from inventory, either intentionally attempting to drop or accidentally (right-clicking on a data pad to read it is pretty instinctive at this point) – in SE2 it not only drops from inventory but the item completely disappeared. I had this happen multiple times. I was expecting the items to be laying at my feet – but they were completely gone.

3 – Most surprising and unexpected: items temporary stored in the small amount of inventory space of a connector was completely removed from game when the connector was accidentally grinded off. (I was attempting to relocate a cargo container, and moved inventory temporary into a connector to make this happen… being a little bit nervous about all the stuff that had disagreed when being dropped from inventory as described above!) Predictably, I grinded down those connectors before moving the stuff out of it, and rather than its inventory dropping on the ground (expected behavior) or showing up in my character inventory (unexpected but acceptable behavior), the items disappeared from the game.

No – I didn’t scan the game file to see where the items ended up in case they existed somewhere: They weren’t at my feet, and that was all I needed to know. The number of times that stuff disappeared unexpectedly shows me there may be some kind of an issue at play. I hadn’t noticed this happening in any previous sessions. I wondered if the new "wind mechanics" were blowing the stuff out of sight REALLY FAST, but even if that were the case, it would be both unrealistic and unexpected.
