Hydrogen airship block

Essentially, this would be fairly simple to do without doing a ton of air buoyancy logic though. Create a (very large) block that is your hydrogen bag (very explody to weapon fire, oh the humanity). This would act as a 'thruster' when full (it consumes hydrogen at a low rate due to molecular permeation), this thruster only works with specific density of atmosphere (for simplicity you can use the same limit as used for atmospheric thrusters) and they're directionless thrust that always provides an amount of thrust opposite to the center of gravity based on the amount of hydrogen stored inside. If it's 100% full, then 'x' thrust, if it's 76% full, then it's 76%'x'. You slap one on a non-anchored grid and it would float up to the atmospheric thruster limit and stay there until the hydrogen 'stored' inside gets below a critical threshold depending on how much weight is attached to it..

Suck some of the hydrogen out of the tank to lower the % full and eventually it would start to go downward, essentially adding and removing hydrogen at whatever threshold needed to make it climb and descend. Yeah, floating bases ahoy. The amount of hydrogen leaked out on its own should be very very slow, but enough that it's not permanent. Programmable blocks could be expanded to auto add hydrogen when the % gets too low.

This basically allows for semi-permanent drifting 'bases' that would float and drift on the wind (and perhaps crash into mountains) or the like. Wouldn't be game breaking in that the hydrogen bags (maybe lightly armored) would be explody so you wouldn't want to make it a combat block. However, flying bases that don't need <bleep> tons of power or fuel would be amazing. I'd see hybrid (atmos thrusters + these) to move around or station keep, or 'extra braking' when you come into an atmosphere, you reach the crossover in the atmosphere where the gas bags provide sustained lift.

hahaha... this is both ridiculous and interesting from an engineering standpoint...
personally i would have it "teathered" to a constant hydrogen supply fed from ground base and let it act as a raised sensor platform detecting enemys from a "better range and position" than the base.
then oh hey, storm whips up and it violently detaches and explodes somewhere nearby.

Obviously this would be more for flying bases and large grids to allow them to use less energy to remain floating.
