New single thickness 10^2 blocks (panels extension) plus others.

Considered (Not Planned)

I know you have the panels on the way, with holes.

same idea, skinned for small and large conveyer middle placement.

but differentiated for basic and heavy plates.

and armor based on the upgraded plates. the ones used in some thrusters or engines.

and a single layer conveyer exchange. not 2x8x8 but 1x8x8.

reason: individual block count. 25 vs 1 .

all panels, could be done in heavy plates, as well as a heavier version of the detailing cube.

ship robustness, and excluding weakness in designs as reason.

and a micro panel. flat 2^1 that appears on one side. (most absent) to cover the 2m hydrogen thruster conveyer access when the thruster is exposed. (love these by the way.).

a conveyer that is attachable to level 3 engines to return (same area alignment) before the thruster to return to port. reason: usefulness when returning hauls to ship. don't need your cargo containers to get it to the cargo container.

file attached: a custom attack ship (on fire from turret damage) riding a pirated cargo ship back to base.

an idea on useful UI. a threshold switch that allows batteries in groups to cycle at a % threshold, with groups by name chosen on alternative phase. charge on group a if discharge on group b.

a manual switch on batteries for charge/discharge/phase. to save ui steps to charge ships when switching batteries for a non-generating ship (no solar or fission offset).

you might also consider a "rating system" for freelance missions. IE: build a living complex with x beds, a kitchen (once available, until then sink+4tables), and h2/02 generators.

using pathways (able to traverse without jetpack, based on pathfinding from space engineers 1 npc additions) and count/size of blocks and contract demand to set rewards. a system where you get told where to build, but get to design it.

Thanks for the detailed ideas there are some interesting concepts here around modular block variants, conveyor flexibility, and more structured mission evaluation.

However, to be clear: these specific additions are not planned at this time (including new block thickness variants, micro-panels, or additional conveyor geometry changes in the form described).

That said, a few of the broader themes you mention are things we are actively thinking about in different forms:

  • improving block variety and building flexibility over time
  • making logistics and power management more readable and less tedious
  • evolving mission and objective systems to better support player-driven construction rather than rigid tasks

We’ve passed your feedback along to the team for consideration, especially around usability pain points in large builds and logistics flow.

I know, I pay attention to the art and stuff in the game news posts on steam.

I hope you're doing well Arron. I'm the same guy that emailed with you about the mobius strip design.

the second level hydro thrusters have those side ports. what i'm suggesting is a special version to allow level three's to also continue with it. Highly condensed builds can make great use of it, with the upgraded thrust.

everything else, is just QOL blocks that would make designing and building quicker and simpler, and could make thruster expansion areas more robust when thrusters are "tacked on" as ai likes to call it, or not embedded in armor. I've noticed that panels don't take damage like lite blocks can, and heavy blocks, of course are the best.

on the battery threshold switch: it might be easier to set "phase group" by check, then give it 3 options, based on letters or numbers. Phase group 1: charge if phase group 2: discharge. grouping already allows easy set adoption, just leave the batteries you want in a phase, as a group, then change phase of the entire group.

other freelance missions: creating a storage depo: x amount of y sized cargo units with h2/02, survival kit, and a smelter, smelter providing the ability of basic repair abilities for the place

landing pad: some bases that don't have a landing pad (the asteroids with two boxes, two solar panels, and a lot of stairs, h202 generator, box, and usually 3 crates inside, 1 up near the solar panels would be perfect for this) with minimum thickness and size requirement, anchored within so close of the prexisting structure (could mimic the gravity bubble with less size, to show anchor area.)

I based most of the panel upgrade ideas from ya'll art of the upcoming panels with holes. same concept, for different sized conveyers, just adding a heavy plate version for ship robustness. It can help keep the grid count lower, and mean less material behind a thruster to protect the interior if the thruster is targeted or lost.

sidenote: feedback on the provided mods for backpack smelting: love it. also, i noticed the starting areas are still where they are, you just moved the start location. love this even more.

which brings me to my last idea. A way for pirates to steal ships, or well anything almost. a "hacking block" that can only be placed on grids you can't place other blocks on. in any large project like the one depicted, there would be a likelihood that our hero might go bad actor (space pirate).

it would need a high risk after effect, like reduced sell price and increased buy price at terminals if you've ever "stolen" something. Could even marked parts from pre owned blocks and "deny" them at terminals. and dare i say, space pirate terminals. "catch and convert one cargo ship." and "catch and convert one patrol ship" would be monsters. the key point of the block is to stop turrets from attacking you. no more coping blueprint to use a grinder/welder ship to rebuild the cargo ship.

also, shouldn't there be a swapping feature for a ship that uses two tools? like a dual rotor that spins (if room allows) on a point, attached on both sides (requirement) but lets you swap use. it should only use the smallest tools though.

also, great effort shows great passion for what you're developing. take my "enthusiasm" as being a die hard space engineers fan. even though its constant death on se1. i like to mess around too much.

my main purpose of my post was to suggest panels in heavy plate form. i know the way i talk and write can both sound and read in confusing ways. the structural area of blocks would expand in a pretty simple way, with this thought.
