This doesnt happen all the time but more than a handful of unkown signals disappear after spending minuts trying to get to them. or they disapear if you grind the wrong part or mark it with gps and leave game, when loading back into game the unknown signal isnt there anymore. this makes the game feel fake and breaks gameplay.
Unknown Signal Vanished
Need More Information
I was grinding down some light armor blocks on the floor and the base at the unknown signal vanished. I don't think that was supposed to happen.

Bug Example 1 -...
I have the same bug
Every single unknown signal is being despawned for me after a brief time. Sometimes faster sometimes later, but I rarely can finish investigating them or collect loot.

This has happened to me twice while investigating "destroyed ship in space" encounters. Not a big percentage of the total number of unknown signals I've investigated, but still jarring when it happens.

Having the same problem here. They usually disappear as soon as I get close to them so I haven't been bothering to check them out lately. It wouldn't be bad to have a despawn timer again to see how long they have left before they vanish.

While traveling through uncharted space; since the latest update v2.0.2.51 it's almost impossible to get to an unknown signal. One out of 10+ attempts is successful at reaching one before it vanishes, even if 2 or 3 appear on the radar at the same time. When we do get to an unknown signal we never know if it will be there for a second to 5 minutes before it vanishes.
They seem to spawn in as they always have, perhaps a bit less and far less random, but even when it only takes 30 seconds to reach the location they normally vanish before arrival.
All of the unknown signals showing on the HUD vanish at the same time.

Today I've had several vanish like this. They appear on the HUD at less than 10km but by the time I am there they have poofed. On several occasions I was in sight of the abandoned buildings but they just vanished. One time I was in the middle of space debris and had looted a couple of lockers when the whole field of debris vanished. The SE1 version showed a timer so you could see if the signal was worth investigating. I'm fairly sure that the lifespan of the ones I missed today isn't the 14 mins of SE1.

In case this is useful, I tried grinding down the antenna on a space debris unknown signal as soon as I got to it to see if doing that would remove it from whatever cleanup list is being polled, and the ship still disappeared while I was grinding the rest of it down.

Hello Evelyn Fjord,
I could not reproduce this issue on current Game version: v2.0.2.51. Does this issue still occurs for you?

This happens all the time. Weird it is not happening to you when you play.
As you are grinding down components, everything disappears.

Hello Engineers,
I could not reproduce this issue on current Game version: 2.0.2.51. Could you please attach a video recording of the issue and Game logs?
Additionally, do you run any mods during gameplay?

I can no longer obtain unknown signals. I've completed the walk through. I rarely see unknown signals now and the last few have vanished while I was heading towards them. Video and log files attached.
In this vertical slice I've only seen about 8 unknown signals spawn in total with something like 40 hours of game play.

I just started grinding up an unknown signal when it vanished. Both of them vanished. Now I think they may be vanishing after a set time after they spawn in, like 30-60 seconds after they spawn in.

They last for 30 seconds before disappearing. I noticed this pattern and was able to roughly time it while recording.

I used the debug menu to clean up the DOZENS of old player entities and many NPC entity grids. I also increased the PCU limit and cleanup settings for NPC. I was then able to go to unknown signals again.
I believe this may be related to the cleanup not working which Keen said they solved.

Why is this marked 'need more information'? It's pretty simple. An unknown signal appears, I fly toward it, and either before I get there or after I've started looting, it disappears too quickly to be of use.

I keep encountering the issue where wrecks, abandoned ships, and Unknown Signal objects suddenly disappear while I am approaching them or already salvaging them.
This happened to me both when my world was below 200,000 PCU and later when it was close to 400,000 PCU, so in my experience it does not seem to be directly related to reaching the PCU limit. I have not been able to identify any clear pattern or logic behind the despawning. It simply happens very often, and in many cases I barely have enough time to salvage anything before the entire object disappears.
This is one of the most frustrating issues I have experienced in Survival so far.
What makes it especially disappointing is that salvage gameplay has a lot of potential in Space Engineers 2. I actually want to design dedicated salvage ships — something like “octopus” vessels with multiple arms and grinders, specifically built to dismantle wrecks and process space debris. But it is very difficult to develop this kind of engineering gameplay when the objects I am designing these ships for can suddenly disappear without warning.
In the current Survival experience, searching for Unknown Signals, flying out to investigate them, exploring wrecks, dismantling them, and recovering valuable components is an important and interesting gameplay loop. It gives players an alternative to simply mining ore all the time.
Sometimes I do not want to dig another hole into an asteroid just to get materials. I want to fly through this beautiful world, search for abandoned structures and wrecks, investigate them, and recover useful resources from them.
There is also a strong thematic reason for this kind of gameplay. In space, debris is dangerous and should be removed. The idea of playing an engineer who searches for wrecks, cleans up space, recycles old structures, and invents specialized machines to do it can become a very strong motivation for players and can inspire a lot of creative engineering.
Right now, however, that entire gameplay direction is undermined because wrecks can simply disappear with no warning and no understandable reason.
Please prioritize fixing this. At the very least, if an object must be removed by the cleanup system, the player should receive a clear warning and enough time to finish salvaging it.

That happens all the time, and not only with unknown signals, but also with a contract related grids in like a couple of minutes after contract completion. And not just debris after bounty contracts, but like the whole stations, like in this topic's video. Once game even removed my bullfrog miner, while I've been using it for mining. It stuck in the voxels, I left the cockpit to clear the way and poof... gone, with all the ores. But it never happend to my own grids, at least for now.
