More support for Vertical building (Ladders/Elevators)

I'd like to see some more support for building vertical vehicles/buildings, namely (fast)Ladders and elevators.
I am aware that there are stairs but they are bulky and a hassle to build in a way that aligns with vertical grids.

Ladders please, I'm using modified rails in order to fake ladders at the moment but it is a little odd that a space ship building title doesn't have a good way to move vertically between decks.
