Modular Solar Panel

Modular solar panels, so we're not restricted to the two sizes provided in the game, and it's easier to fit and find spots for them on our ships.

This could mean square panels, that are 1m by 1m big.

But ideally these wouldn't be treated as separate entities and could merge with each other to form 1 panel that takes on the values of both parts.

Not only smaller, but also larger...

"Solar panel, smooth, frameless" for mounting on a support structure, with power indicator (four levels, in the center of the panel), or without indicator. Square in three (five) dimensions: 0.25 m x 0.25 m, (0.5 m x 0.5 m), 1 m x 1 m, (2 m x 2 m), 2.5 m x 2.5 m. Triangle (half a square) in two or three dimension: 0.25 m x 0.25 m (1m x 1m) and 2.5 m x 2.5 m. (not need to create more parts than the minimum necessary)

Smaller solar panel form factors/shapes would be nice.

Yeah more sizes would definitely help if the devs couldn't make it truly modular.

Another part of the game that could elevated by the unified grid system. I hope that a lot of the systems that are copy pasted in format, size and shape, from SE1 are just placeholder. So many areas could be made so much better by utilizing this amazing building system they've built.

Neat idea. Each connected combination of panels could be automatically handled as a group or grid with combined controls and values. This could also be used as the basis for "energy groups" where you could group different energy sources into one "virtual plant" and control it as one.
