Stuck on the first of the 20% contracts

I am stuck attempting to complete the first of the 20% contracts - fixing up the manufacturing facility. I repaired the cargo container, smelter, and assembler. I created the 12 heavy plates, and now, as you can see in the attached screen clip, I am supposed to use the smelter and assembler to create the listed stuff - but there isn't anything listed. Please advise.

RevelThane on the steam discussion board provided the solution. In addition to the 12 heavy plates, you need to craft 8 wire in the smelter. Put the wire into your inventory along with the 12 heavy plates, and the next step in the contract appears - fix the two batteries.

I have the same problem. Only the 8 wires were displayed for me.

I erroneously just left this as a bug report as well before checking if other's had left this bug. Can confirm same bug. Wires are optional, fix the batteries worked for me.

I think if you put inventory into the assembler/smelter while working, you also have to completely empty it out to progress. It could be more like taking two things out of the assembler finishes the quest.

I had this visual bug too - the text telling you what to craft just never loaded in. I was eventually able to figure out the batteries were what needed to be fixed, and the parts they needed, to clear the objective, but that text never did load in.
There were a couple other times that objective text didn't show up at first, just saying something along the lines of "missing text," but after a minute or two the text eventually did load in. This was the only instance in which that text never loaded in.
