Xbox: Lost control thrusters

John Bruce shared this bug 4 years ago
Not a Bug

In survival, small planet base with upward facing connector. Downward facing connector on mining ship. I've got d-pad hotkeys maped to turn on/off the thrusters and battery (recharge on/off). Using Controller button "Y" to do connect/disconnect. Somewhere in my play, the thrusters stop responding to the controller input after disconnecting. Thankfully the ship doesn't fall off the connector. I can reconnect/disconnect with "Y" I can verify Battery is working on ship by turning on the ship-drill. There is no visible / auditory evidence that the thrusters are responding to controller stick movement. I can verify that the group bulk enabling / disabling all 8-10 engines through the control panel.

Hello, Engineer!

Sorry for late response, is this issue still happening to you?

I started treating the thruster groups as a fragile thing and not changing them. Let me play around and see if its still happening.

Check and make sure you do not have thruster overrides turned on on your thrusters if so scroll to the left to disable. Accidentally turned mine on a few days ago (still not sure how) and it sounds exactly like what you described

This is a very likely. The control panel needs some UI Polish. When you move from the left item column to the middle column, the attention focuses on "thrust override" and will often move it a 'tick' off of disabled. I was hovering in a ship to create some groups, and the ship promptly fell out of the sky. It made it more obvious that I did something the control panel UI.

I'm experiencing something similar with hydrogen thrusters, I'll build a basic ship fill the 2 tanks I have to 100%, ship test flight is fine but after save and reload later no thrust given even when turning thrust over ride to max. Turned ship off, turned thrusters off, after build another ship same issue after relogging in

removing and reattaching the thrusters gave me control again. I'm not having this repeat currently, so I'm wondering if it was a stealth fix or if I was ticking the thrust override by moving around the UI with the dpad.

That did not help in my situation

Just out of curiosity are you docking your ship to a station with a hydrogen tank? If so you might want to check the stations tank setting is not on stockpile as it will drain any tanks though connectors. Have done this twice on accident and with batteries as well

No, all tanks are full on the ship, thrusters are all lit but wont give any thrust, even if I use thrust over ride. I've given up on being a space engineer, and have accepted the fact that I'm an earth like planet engineer

Can you upload the ship to the workshop so I can look at it?

Hello, Engineer!

Could you please upload some of your blueprints to Mod.IO so we can take a look?
