Painting tool not selecting through open gaps in blocks

Won't Fix

The painting tool will select the first grid hit box it can find in front of you unlike the other tools where they only look at the physical hit box. Say you had a half block with a full block behind it. If you aimed through the empty space of the half block with your crosshair on the full block it will still select the half block.

Unfortunately we are unable to reproduce your issue, it is possible we don't understand it correctly. Could you please upload a screenshot or video of the issue with better reproduction?

The block that my crosshairs is on is obviously the full block (this is true if you hold a welder or grinder) however the half block is selected and painted. This makes it difficult painting visible blocks that are technically covered if you look at placement hit boxes resulting in having to either grind components and replace them or to mess around with the area painting option which causing more mess that you have to clean up. It’s just a real pain.

Thank you for your reply. We understand this issue might be frustrating sometimes but unfortunately this is how the game was designed. We don't want to make any changes to this behavior at this point of the game because we might introduce way more issues than this one.

It is a bad excuse. If the game designed so poorly in some aspects you should think how to improve it.

There's a mod that can do it. Just add that to the game. Painting sucks when you have to destroy half of your build just to get to a few blocks.

I believe it is not possible to add such mods in the xbox version of the game.

Yes it is. They'd need permission from the creator but they can just add it to the base game. No mod needed. To say it can't be fixed is wrong. Could it cause issues? Sure but that's what the beta is for: adding new features without risking the main retail game. If enough people request it they should listen.
