Event Controller Merge Block Bug

Need More Information

I made a battery attachment for my fighter with an event controller and timer blocks on the attachment which is supposed to turn the batteries to discharge when the merge block is connected and recharge when disconnected. So I set up my discharge timer block to slot 1 ("when merged") of the event controller and recharge timers to slot 2 ("when un-merged"). However, both slots get activated when I connect the merge blocks, and neither of the slots get activated when I disconnect the merge blocks. I was in a solo world (not offline, but no one else was in there), on planet, and there are no mods.
