PCU limit Differences/ Confirmations

Backstory

As you know back during the fieldwork update PCU was reduced without warning across the board on consoles in values based on the console tier being 100k for current gen and less for last gen etc.

As you can see in the discord from a little while back, during the week after release of Fieldwork and what was discussed during the stream this reduction effected both PlayStation and Xbox and caused allot of upset, primarily for locking players out of worlds that went above this new limit with no prior warning to allow players to prepare for this reduction and from what I was told in stream and various times, this was because of stability requested by Microsoft.

This change by reducing the PCU literally does nothing for stability directly, as someone with a world only using less than 400k wouldn't have seen any stability improvements just less freedom to build, seeing stability only from the bug fixes, sure people like myself building above 400k would see some issue, but this was primarily due to the overuse of mods and found reducing these mods as more mod inspired DLCs released aided greatly in stabilising these saves along with the record number of bug fixes you guys did along these updates. (I'm sure if we were able to continue building at our limits we would have seen improvements as every update I was able to add more to my Anchor 9 build with less crashing and more stability until this update locked my world away)


To the main point of this post.

Recently Ive been advised by a friend on the base PS5 that they have 500k PCU when even the PS5 pro shouldn't have 500k PCU as we have always been advised and most people on the discord believe, that the tiers of console are sitting at the same values of PCU, so PS5 and series S would be the same then Series X and PS5 pro would be sitting at the same, this new information is weird as no announcement Ive heard had advised that they got PCU back and then more that the previous limits, when Series X is still missing 100k PCU.


Question 1,

Why was it that the Series X was reduced and not given the PCU back when the Base PS5 that is less powerful than the Series X is sitting at the level that Series X was at before the fieldwork update?

(Ive been advised that the base PS5s limit is a bug, but being that its been present for 3+ updates that I know of one being a major update, it just seems like an unfair limit especially as a less powerful console is allowed this limit that I'm betting is as unstable and the Xbox series S when the more powerful Series X isn't at least allowed the 100k back.)


Question 2,

Was the PlayStation PCUs actually reduced like what people said in chat and discord following the update and has this reduction been reversed since then? (I don't have a PlayStation so couldn't confirm myself and could swear patch notes mentioned this but no longer do)


Question 3,

Can we get an updated PCU limit number per platform? as everyone including myself believe that PCUs as mentioned above are capped to the same levels as tiers of console.

This is what its believed to be currently

last gen consoles with 200k (roughly):

Xbox One, Xbox One S, Xbox One X

PS4, PS4 Slim, PS4 Pro

Current gen with 400k PCU:

The Xbox Series X, PS5, PS5 Slim, PS5 Pro


Question 4,

If possible can we know the real reason for the reduction in PCU? as with base PS5 being a less powerful console why is it able to have more than Xbox how can it be for stability.

(My general Idea is that if Microsoft was the reason, you needed something visual to show efforts for stabilisation and although reducing PCU has no direct effect on performance it does show someone who's never played the game or doesn't understand games in general that limits were reduced or actions were taken to try to make the game more stable. could be completely wrong but thought id mention it)


Apologies for the rant and for the tone of what was said, but I was advised to check in here as all other revenues don't seem to give answers for the real changes and why PlayStation got to possibly get their PCU back and then some.

I might be a little upset as I was one of the idiots on console who put up with the games instability and even built past the limit to over 800k PCU to great success at times and now can no longer build in that world even if the 100k PCU is restored due to the blocking of mods that make Armor blocks 1 PCU.


Would simply just like some clarity as going to the discord or asking in stream chats doesn't seem to give any answers and only seems to anger people, but again I'm hoping this post will.
