Has customer service actually improved, or are we just getting used to bad support?

Felt like customer service hit a low during the pandemic, but now I can’t tell if it’s bouncing back or if companies just stopped trying. Some places are quick and helpful, others make you jump through five forms and still ghost you. Wondering if there's any recent data or report that shows how customer support has really changed — not just flashy tools, but actual results. Would be interesting to see what most people experience now when they reach out for help.

There’s a solid breakdown here: https://help-center.pissedconsumer.com/customer-service-trends/ . It doesn’t sugarcoat anything — says over half of users didn’t even get a reply after reaching out, and only a quarter actually had their issue resolved. What stood out to me was how many still prefer calling or emailing even with all the chatbots and apps around. It’s wild how much effort people put in for so little response. That page gives a clear picture of what’s actually happening right now across industries.
