PCU XBOX > PC > PS5 Compatibility

Need More Information

Good morning,

I need assistance with something. Before the fieldwork update, me (On Windows 10 steam) and two other players (one on Xbox series X and one on PS5) could play on a dedicated crossplay server with unlimited PCU.

However, after the fieldwork update, it seems to have been limited to 400k(?) PCU which is frustrating as builds are therefore limited.

Is there ANY way to remove this limit whilst remaining compatible with my two friends, I'm unsure why it worked before but then the compatibility was removed in the most recent update as we saw no issues with PCU or large builds?

Best,

J

Hello, Engineer!

Unfortunately no, the requirement to set Block Limits for Console Compatibility was made for performance reasons. However, we can let you know that the maximum value for Block Limits you could set is 2147483647. You should be able to play with your friends and never reach that limit.

Hi,

By meaning you can set the block limit to that number, is that the PCU or the physical blocks being counted.

What I'm concerned about is that I've been told that you can only have '400k' PCU or similar if you want to play with xbox/ps5, is this what you're referring to when you say you should never be able to reach that limit as I know block limits and PCU are two different integers from memory.

Best,

Hello, Engineer!

Block Limits are PCU limits. There's a separate limit that can be set for specific blocks, but that's not regulated for DS.

PCU limit for 400k is for Single Player and Lobby games, PCU are regulated by Block Limits setting on DS instead.

Hope that resolves your issue.

So, if I was using a server service such as Nitrado, I would be able to set the block/pcu limit to '2147483647' and both me and my ps5 + xbox series x friends would be able to play on said server?

Hello, Engineer!

In the first post you mentioned that you've already been playing on a dedicated server, you should be able to change it's settings to be visible for you again.

Or you could find a server with limits set correctly to be visible for both xbox and ps in our discord community:

We really cannot comment on any third-party server providers.

Sorry for the confusion, my only question is:

If the block limit is set to that aforementioned large number: '2147483647', will

A: My friends be able to play

B: PCU be a limiting factor if I want to build large bases

Again, sorry for the confusion I am currently in hospital at the moment.

Hello, Engineer!

Yes, both PS and Xbox players should be able to access a server with such PCU limits. And no, you should not have issues building large bases. Again, we'd like to reiterate that block limits and PCU limits are the same thing. Please make sure that your consoles are in the Experimental mode as the server will set it to experimental automatically. We've attached a picture of block limits set up via Space Engineers DSGUI that allows PCU to be at 2147483647 while remaining console compatible. If you use a third party provider, their UI might be different.
