Version discrepancy causing data loss

Solved

Xbox version is 1.205.026.b1

Windows Store version is1.205.026.b2

I typically play on Xbox. I wanted to play in another room without setting up my console in the other room. Upon installing and playing the Windows version of SE on my laptop my Xbox Network data synced to my PC allowing me to continue building my ship on the go.

Upon continuing to play on my Xbox (Series X) I have lost all my data.

I have deleted and resynced player data from both PC and console, player data shows up on my PC but the game treats me as a new player on Xbox with my 14.7MB of player data synced.

Hello, Engineer!

We're sorry to hear you're experiencing issues.

Could you please let us know if you've observed an Xbox system message upon start saying: "Your other Xbox is taking a long time to sync to the cloud"?

Kind Regards

Hello, Keen Software House!

I apologize for the time it has taken me to reply. I would like to say that saying data was lost is inherently wrong at the face value of the wording. While I did not have access to it at the time I wanted it on my console, the data was still on my PC.

Upon further review of the issue from my end the issue has resolved itself, I will admit it may have been user error of some sort.

I did observe the message in which you inquire. I believe I had solved the issue that particular error message was referring to, as is stated in my original communication. "...new player on Xbox with my 14.7MB of player data synced."

To resolve this issue I ensured that plenty of time had passed between closing Space Engineers on my PC and opening it on my console; so it could sync. Upon reopening the game on my Xbox it asked which data I would like to use, the older data on my console or the newer data from the cloud. Of course I selected the cloud data.

I attempted to load the save in which I was actively building and had no saved world data. I closed and reopened the game thinking technology was just being weird and needed to load with the player data already existing; technology can be quite finicky sometimes. Through later a review of player data in the console storage, the aforementioned 14.7MB of data existed but there was still no saved worlds displayed in game.

I deleted the saved data from my console and repeated the above process after checking for the save data on my PC to see if there had been a problem with synchronization from my PC to Xbox Cloud Services. Still no saved world data, so I submitted the ticket and began playing on the official Xbox server I play on, still need to gather resources after all.

Upon attempting to play the next day, muscle memory from the previous days of loading different creative saves took over. I selected load rather than continue for the Official Server, and my saves were there. With that, I am happy to report that my saved data is there! However I do not know what was done, I do not know why they did not display the night prior. I cannot remember if I was asked to resync data on my console the following day.
