Unable to access Multiplayer

Solved

I am at a loss after hours of trying to Troubleshoot this on my own.

I am playing Space Engineers on PC, through the Xbox App & Game Pass. (NOT through steam.)

I understand that this has me using the xbox version of the game.

When I go to "Join", the server list does not populate, it just shows blank. Games list is also blank.

After searching on forums, I have tried changing the search parameters to every possible combination, always stays blank. I have tried enabling then disabling advanced search. Still stays blank.

I have gone into the xbox launching app and done the Verify and Repair option. did not resolve anything.

I have gone in and uninstalled Space Engineers, then redownloaded and reinstalled.

I have restarted my computer and router multiple times.

Nothing seems to make a difference, the join game server list remains blank.

Another issue, that I believe is related, if I try to change any game from offline mode to friends or public, When I try to access the game, It starts to load, then goes to unloading and says "unexpected error occurred while joining the session."

Secondary issue that has popped up during troubleshooting is my Skins are now gone as well, I had unlocked the Veteran Mark 2 from completing the Learning to Survive Achievements. That is also missing.

I am at my wits end here, please help!

Hello, Engineer!

We're sorry to hear you're experiencing issues. Could you please tell us what is the version you currently have installed? You can see the version number in the bottom right corner of the Main Menu.

And let's try to send a log as well. To send the log please follow these steps:

  • Reproduce the issue, for example by changing from offline to public
  • Restart the game
  • In the Main Menu press F1
  • Select Send Log tab
  • Enter some information into the window and press Send Log
  • Enter the same information in this thread so we can find your logs in our internal system
  • Kind Regards

    Version: 1.205.026 b2 RETAIL

    Log Sent.

    Additional Text in the box reads:

    "Created Fresh Save with No Mods.

    Changed setting from Private to Friends

    Reloaded Save - Received Unexpected Error Again.

    Log ID: Safirn"

    If it helps with troubleshooting, I tried to eliminate network issues as a cause. Disconnected my hardline and connected to game using a hotspot from my phone, symptoms were still the exact same. Also tried allowing all programs in and out through Windows Firewall, did not make a difference. No other antivirus programs installed.

    For the Log I created a fresh save with no Mods to eliminate that as a possible conflict as well.

    Hello, Engineer!

    Thank you for the log, we confirm receiving it. We can recommend a few steps to take:

    • Run the game as Administrator
    • Delete everything located in the folder C:\Users\your_username\AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers Before deleting those files, please back them up to a separate folder, as local saves and blueprints are located there.

    Please let us know if either of those steps helped.

    Kind Regards

    Unfortunately no, neither of those steps helped.

    I first tried running as administrator, same results.

    Backed up then deleted the entire Space Engineers folder in Roaming, relaunched but same results.

    I then Uninstalled the game, went back and deleted roaming SpaceEngineers folder again. Restarted PC.

    Performed a fresh reinstall on C:\ Drive. (game was previously installed on D:\)

    Relaunched and same results as before. Unable to see any online games, join screen is empty. and if I try to load any game set to anything other then offline I get the Unexpected Error.

    I was looking through the log line by line, came across this:

    "2024-12-06 13:33:50.171 - Thread: 24 -> EOS|LogEOSLobby: Invalid parameter EOS_Lobby_CreateLobbyOptions.LocalUserId reason: is not a valid Product User ID, Result: EOS_InvalidUser"

    "2024-12-06 14:10:52.064 - Thread: 24 -> EOS Networking: Error: Failed to connect the user: ConnectExternalTokenValidationFailed

    2024-12-06 14:10:52.065 - Thread: 24 -> EOS|LogEOSLobby: Invalid parameter EOS_Lobby_CreateLobbyOptions.LocalUserId reason: is not a valid Product User ID, Result: EOS_InvalidUser

    2024-12-06 14:10:52.075 - Thread: 24 -> OnLobbyCreated failed LobbyId= ResultCode=InvalidUser

    2024-12-06 14:10:52.086 - Thread: 1 -> EOS Networking: Error: ToLobbyStatusCode InvalidUser

    2024-12-06 14:10:52.100 - Thread: 1 -> ShowLoadingError: Error / Unexpected error occurred while joining the session. Please, try again later."

    To load the game, I open the xbox app on the PC, and select Space Engineers to launch. I am logged into the xbox app with game pass. Is it possible that the game is not picking up the login information from Game Pass? and If So, why? can that information be manually loaded in?

    Issue resolved. Going to post this here in case it helps someone else with similar issues.

    The underlying issue was that the Xbox Game Pass App was not passing my sign on information to SE, causing the game to come up with an invalid user error. This presented in the form of no servers being able to load and no multiplayer games being accessible.

    I went ahead and installed SE to my Xbox just to verify it wasn't an external account issue with EOS privacy and everything there loaded correctly. The tip that guided me in the next direction was while I was on the Xbox, I favorited a couple servers. Back on the PC those servers did not show up in favorites, telling me that SE was not accessing my Xbox profile correctly.

    Jumped back over to PC.

    Performed another clean wipe of SE from the PC, uninstalling the game, deleting all SE files in Appdata/Roaming.

    Then signed out of all Xbox App programs on PC. Restarted PC.

    Launched Xbox App then signed in again freshly.

    Proceeded to download and install a fresh version of SE.

    Loaded it up and viola, Servers are populating correctly and multiplayer games are accessible.

    This issue can be marked as resolved. Thank you,
