Mod Support

So I've watched alot of the videos of the PC version of Space Engineers and I feel like alot of cool stuff would be gained if we had Mod support. I've seen videos with Omega lasers and Coil guns and a bunch of other cool stuff that I feel would make the Xbox environment so much cooler. And you can make it like all other game son Xbox with Mod support and want the players that using mods there is no guarantee of game stability. There's alot of things I'd like to use for some of my build but unfortunately they are mods I cannot access. Any reply would be cool I'd like to see this happen.

Hi,

There are several reason why mods in general are not supported. One of the biggest one is that Xbox does not support for actual scripting. You can not make C# script for your mod and run it on xbox. That feature is a) not available b) it's actually forbidden. Yes, some of the mods dont need that, but you will end up will split between Xbox and PC anyway.

I don't think Microsoft will ever allow scrips to run on OS level, for obvious security reason. That said, they can always run there own virtual host process container that runs the necessary C# runtimes + other requirements for mods and scripts to work properly. That way you isolate it from the main OS completely.

That being said this is probably something that Microsoft is already working on for the Xbox Series X/S. Still this requires some teamwork between Microsoft & Keen, but I'm sure it's possible, though the development time would not be a fast one. And probably only make sense if they want to implement some kind of cross-play, standardizing both versions of the game and make the steam workshop legacy and move all of that in-game completely for both versions!!

We will consider this feature. Keep voting.

Thank you for your feedback!

I was not talking about mods I was trying to sugest content of a next dlc or new blocks in a update or an expansion pack of some kind

I would love this!

I totally agree mod support for the xbox one would only make the game Evan more fun for the player.

I agree Xbox should support mods for SE, also in the star system it shows the alien planet but in game it is NOT there but when you use the terrain thing it has alien grass and stuff such as titan, plus devs can you try add the unknown signals because on Advanced settings it shows UNKNOWN signals but its un selectable, hopefully you can add those keen support p.s can you make the xbox servers bigger because its unfair that PC can get ALLOT of players in a server thx😋🤗

Hopefully the next update is Mods and new planet🤞

photo

Oh change the earths atmosphere to blue bc its white

photo
3

I hope we get Mod support because id like to get the speed mod that lets you go way over 100 or / lets you go inf, oh can you add the new planets to home system to thx

photo
2

Oh can you make earths atmosphere blue and add the new planets to home system

photo

Xbox wouldn't be able to support mods because of how much pressure it would put on the system and having larger servers would put pressure on the game. We also already have those planets.

photo
4

Dedicated servers would actually take pressure off of the system. While Microsoft allows external assets for mods, making it a possibility, the mods would need to go through some sort of screening process. The Xbox is capable of handling modded gameplay to an extent.

smart thinking

xbox series x

photo
3

It really wouldnt really put pressure on the game because theres a limit of how much mods you can get before it stops working tho + larger servers are the same nothing would change because players arent a PCU so..?

photo
2

The system DOES NOT have anything to do with it to its in game modding just aswell as servers but ok?..

photo
3

But i hope the up the speed limit to 1000 or 500,incase you want to orbit a space station / base but goodnight

photo
2

The other planets are now available in the game, however you are limited to 3 planet types. For example, you can have Earth, Alien and Titan in a game and spawn multiple of each but you wont be able to add more any other than those 3.

photo
2

YES im so happy

photo
2

On pc they had every planet on home system i hope they add alien or idk lol

photo
3

Hopefully keen up's the speed limit to ∞ or 100, 500 incase you want a orbital space ship/ base or station 6

photo
2

agree but the limit is like 50k-100k mps

photo
3

Kinda like how we have the workshop there could be a modding part or..idk im soooo DESPERATE for mods+scripts so my survival game isnt boring+ hopefully the next update is mods eeeek

photo
2

Hopefully you guys add the New planets to home system or alien titan ect..

photo
2

You can spawn in more planets (as long as one of the three already present in the save). For fun you can spawn more Earth Planets, Mars Planets and Moons with different sizes for fun:)

photo

Ohhh

photo

It would be fun (WAY MORE FUN) - if we had mods because people like me! Would love the more turrets mods furniture, dec, ship parts and scripts i hope they add mods in the future + this post is under consideration 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗

I wonder when we get mod support its been 51d, probably the virus is slowing everything down like not everyone at work

photo
3

Please!! Would love mod support! I know its alotta work but it'd be worth it!

photo
2

Uhhh sure??? (ntr

The main reason I would like mods isn't for the fun things like giant cannons and such, its to customize the usability of some blocks. For example one of the most useful mods I have on PC extends the range of a large laser antenna to 2500km. So they actually gain a use as a long range communication system.

photo
2

yes mods are needed in xbox. right now the two different versions feel like two different games

photo
2

While I want mods I want high quality mods! If they can implement this I’m on board

photo
2

We need this ASAP, If we could do what the pc does with Mods we could be more creative and have more fun plus it would keep the game fun for a while

photo
2

yes mods are a must. so the games are equal. they should be like an experimental mode thing only.

photo
2

one day guys, one day...

photo
3

Assertive Cargo Ships and, is it (?), Asseritve Stations would make planets a lot better

photo
3

more weapons like long barrel gat guns, lasers, cannons, bofors, and energy shields would make the game really fun

photo
2

Try and get this to be the top of the list

photo
3

there is already a mod support topic out there, but yes, we need mods.

photo

I´ve seen a youtuber called Splitse and he has a series called survival unlikely and if you are able to make so then xbox can have mods then there could be a chance that I could try and remake that with the same mods and have a lot of fun. Also if you could make it possible could you potentially make it so pc scripts can be downloaded on xbox because I have seen a lot of cool scripts there.

many people use mods in there game.

but we are almost at a hundred votes. happy to see the community alive

photo

So glad to see this community alive and wanting to add mods to the game

ONE MORE VOTE TOO 100!!!!!

Thank you Keen, our prayers have been answered.

What's the progress of Xbox mods as I'm intrigued by some different ones I've come across. Merry Christmas everyone

photo
2

Best way to use the limited mods that we DO have access to is to download the SE Beta. Thats what I did as Nitrado is an absolute ripoff.

photo
2

I wish Keen could bundle the shield and laser mods into the game.

photo
3

Now that we have mods the next step is scripted mods like Modular Encounter Spawner. Unfortunately there aren't many creators willing to upload to mod.io for Xbox users.

photo
4

Is the beta the only way to get Xbox mods to work as I can import ships/rovers/stations but stuff like azimuth mods I can't get to work. They don't turn up

photo
2

Yep. Mods are only on the beta at the moment, until Keen update the main retail game - which is likely going to be the next big update. Mods are a big thing, so they'll want to do a live stream like they've done for the last bunch of big changes to the game.

photo
1

Azimuth works for me and I don't play the beta version since idk how to do that lol. But I do hope they can make mod support at some point. I highly doubt it'll be available for Xbox one and maybe at some point for Xbox series consoles.

We've had Mods on the retail for a while now, originally they were only on the Beta/Demo because it was always ahead of features compared to retail SE. Mods were brought into retail on March 2021 with the Community Crossplay update.

However - the Beta is the only place you can remove Block Limits for now.

The best way to get the Beta/Demo is to (a) check in your Ready to Install List, or to go to the Official Club, scroll left and choose: Switch Game then choose the Beta/Demo.

The only Mods we can't use on Xbox (any version) right now are the ones that have built in client side scripts, since those won't even run on a Dedicated Server.

Thanks, hope it's soon as I can't find or access the Xbox beta version

Mfg
