Copy paste controls glitch

Dustin Spengler shared this bug 4 years ago
Solved

When copy/pasting a small grid, when you get in new grid cockpit and use the buttons on toolbars, it affects original grid, not the copy. The toolbar buttons need to be reconfigured to new grid, then original is no longer affected. even after that when copy is attached to same large grid as original through connectors, activating a toolbar button affects both. Tried renaming copy grid, but still didn't solve issue.

Hello,Could you please provide us with more information regarding the issue you reported? I wasn't able to reproduce it. To report a bug into our system it is necessary to have reliable steps to reproduce in order for programmers to fix it.

Does it happen with every small grid? Any additional information would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you.Kind Regards

My steps. 1.) Make small grid vehicle. 2.) Group grid blocks together, then on the hotbar assign group. 3.) Admin tools enable creative mode tools, copy grid, RB confirm, move to placing location, right trigger to place. Testing notes: Movement is not copied. Noticed only a few of the hot bar items are not grayed out. The ones that are still active are still connected to the original copy. I have the atmospheric thrusters in a group on the hot bar and when I turned it off the original thrusters denergized and grid fell. The copy is still in the air and all atmospheric thrusters are online. Activating the hot bar group of headlights also turns on the headlights on an original copy but not the copy. Removed creative mode. Changed copy grid name, hot bar still controls original. Reasigned Hotbar keys. Copy is independent now and no longer affects original. I have a landing pad with two connectors on it for two separate small grid vehicles. Connected copy and original to those connectors both having green lights. The copy was placed on first and thrusters were powered down. Upon placing original on connector and locking it down, when I toggle the thrusters off, the thrusters on the copy turn on. When I go into the control panel and inspect the block groups it will highlight the components that are associated with that block group. With both copy and original connected to main grid when I inspect the block group list, the similar items for that group are highlighted with both grid components combined. I.e. the thrusters in the Thruster group from both grids are showing up under the single control panel as all highlighted with other grids components showing orange. On its own, the copy grid has its own name (upper left of interface menu) but as soon as it docks the name reverts to the originals until disconnected.

I have the same issue, and I have noticed that also when you paste in a new grid many of the assigned buttons are unlinked ... this has happened with mod.io creations like the Viper and the Thunderbolt Starfury.

It's also happened with re-pasting my own large and small grid ships.

I will note that weapons like gatling guns and rocket launchers seem ok. But turret controlled weapons, lights, landing gear, jump drive shortcuts etc all get removed and de-linked from a copy or blueprint paste.
