Xbox One Controller Triggers Not Doing Anything

Hi!
I've spent the last 2 hours trying to get my Xbox one controller to work properly with space engineers. For some strange reason, all controls work except the left and right trigger to be able to use tools; such as the welder. Everything else works fine. I went into big picture mode to disable the steam controller stuff, that made it so that controller input would work, before that it didn't work. I've fiddled around and looked on google everywhere but no one else seems to have an answer.
