worlds no longer saving

Clara Korrie shared this bug 3 years ago
Solved

no new world I create will save any progress. regardless of mods. C drive has plenty of space free. I've followed all recommended fixes (validating files, deleting config etc.) I've attempted deleting and recreating world and still get the same error.

I'm attaching the log because I am not a programmer and cannot make heads or tales of what it all means.

Hello, Clara,

we´re sorry to hear that you are experiencing this issue.

Can you please share more info? What exactly happens, when you try to run new game? How about the old saves? Did you try to revert back to version 196? What is the error you are writing about; what´s its text? Or can you make a screenshot of that error? Or a video of this bug happening would help.

Can you please send me some of your older saves? Or on older saves it is working?

Do you have any idea when this started? With what update?

Thanks in advance for providing the info.

Kind Regards

the exact text of the error was "World '-------' failed to save. This can be caused by running out of memory or problems when writing files. Working in this world any longer may result in loss of progress. You can check log file to find out more about what caused this error."

I did not try to load my older saves because others who have had the problem said that it could corrupt them. I seemed to have solved the problem for now by backing up my saves and uninstalling and reinstalling the game.

Hello, Clara,

thanks for sharing the error message. And great you were able to find workaround/fix for it :)

As this issue is no longer happening to you, I will close this thread now.

If you will experience it again, please open new one, with providing the affected save and log, if possible, so we can hunt it down and reproduce it on our side.

Kind Regards
