World loading screen crash

Tino Pentinlehto shared this bug 3 years ago
Solved

Hi. I got some kind of problem with loading textures which causes a crash in loading screens when trying to join / create a world.

After I click create world it loads for about 3-10 seconds and then I get message that says: ERROR there was an error while loading the world! Check the log for more information.

After that I get sent back to menu but the game hasn't crashed yet. When I go back to new game and then click custom game it crashes instantly. Crash also occurs when I try to join multiplayer servers.

I have tried experiemental mode off and on.

I think this is causing the problem. I have tried to delete the game and its appdata and then download the game back but it hasn't fixed the problem. I have tried to delete and download the files that have been causing problems but it didn't help. I have tried to verify files multiple times in steam.

My pc specs:

Windows Home 10 21H1

Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30GHz 3.30 GHz

RAM8,00 Gt

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3GB

Hello, Tino!

Sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue. Is this happening in a specific scenario? You have said creating and joining a world but are either of these with mods? Are the worlds that you create the same type each time? Is this happening for everything you create or join? If there are any mods involved, could you please disable these in a fresh world and re-test? I appreciate you have done some of the below but could you please make sure to do any you haven't and let me know how you get on? :)

  • Verify your game files in Steam

  • Right click on Space Engineers in Steam Library → Properties → Local Files → Verify Integrity of Game Files

/bfSnH0rGoN-NgctSWBJN3LfvWZvgnfye9BrPgucxV0n8TDpNc-7yZYwSifdRXyl1quu20KGUNmHzSf6VGRbhWS4a_EYn2MclxJSOz6eVarmz-fhTWVaofVOAVZN_l_leF9dgQ5GF=s0

  • Delete SpaceEngineers.cfg file

  • It means your game configuration will be deleted
  • You can access your SpaceEngineers.cfg by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

  • Delete ShaderCache folder

  • Back up your whole Space Engineers Roaming folder and delete it
  • Restart Steam
  • Reinstall VC Redist 2017
  • Update graphic drivers
  • Reinstall the game
  • Make sure your operating system is fully updated

Kind Regards

It happens everytime with any world type or scenario. There are no mods involved as I already said that I have already tried with experiemental mode or and off.

I tried everything you suggested but it didn't fix the problem.

Hello, Tino!

Thank you for confirming this. Could you please supply a copy of a world where you are experiencing the crash happen? We will see if we receive the same result as you.

  • You can access your save files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Saves. There should be a folder with your SteamID and your saves.
  • Please zip the file and attach it here. If you are having difficulty attaching files you can optionally use Google Drive. When sharing a google drive link please make sure it is set to be downloadable by anyone with the link.

Kind Regards

I have tried to do multiple worlds but my save folder only has these for some reason.

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1kaz14li59nUnRtHSFyWvrXR1ewI1FrYb?usp=sharing Heres a link to google drive folder that has the save file.

I don't really understand why I have to send a specific save when the crash happens in any save or in any world creation settings. Can you explain how this will help?

Hello, Tino!

Thank you for the file, we just wanted to check to make sure we could load this ourselves ok.

I have been advised that there is an IO exception in your log (input output) so this means there is probably a problem reading the disk from the drive. Normally we would suggest checking the disk drive, verifying the data and possibly reinstalling the game but we believe you have already tried to reinstall it. In this case, please try to install the game again on another drive, or if it has another disk, because this error is related to a disk failure.

I moved the game from my G (HDD) drive to my C (SSD) drive and it fixed the problem!

Thanks for the help.
