Workshop Content Updates Causing Crashes

Won't Fix

So it seems that every now and then when a modder decides to upload a new version of their content that my hosted/server group are using, my game crashes, and when I say my game, I mean the world that up to 5 other people might be on at that time. I've gone through logs, I've tried to reproduce the exact moment the crash happens and then when I look in my downloads section on Steam, I see workshop content has updated. Now I know I can turn that off in settings for Steam, disable background downloads, but I like having it enabled for when I'm playing SP games and want my stuff to update in the background. I just want it to be known that mod updates are causing hard crashes. Maybe I'm the only one having this issue, but its affecting about 20 of us who are rotating in and out of my world while we search for a new server host.

100% Repro, but likely BLOCKED by STEAM

Repro Steps

  • Publish a mod
  • Load a DS instance with published mod
  • Change the mod (add/edit a file)
  • Publish mod while DS is running
  • Connect to DS with CLIENT

Hi,

would it be possible to to upload both versions of the mod (original and updated)? I tried to reproduce it, but the bug didn't happen.

Thank you!
