When I detach anything from a station it converts to a large ship
I started a Creative world to design my next ship, and flew to an asteroid to build a station as a construction area for it. The first time I encountered it it didn't seem to be caused by severing something, but now any time I remove a block that splits the grid the entire thing converts to a large ship, and because it's embedded in terrain at several points it drifts away. I'm on the latest PC build. I can't provide a save file because I have a couple mods, one of which adds blocks, but I first encountered it before the ship had anything modded on it, in this case, T and + shaped conveyors as well as 3 block long ones. I screwed up my design just slightly and now I need to move a pair of blast door encased H2 tanks one block over. Problem is, those blocks connect on only 4 sides and the structure splits easily, and every grid split triggers the bug. Likely able to be replicated by building a very large station, building the beginnings of a ship big enough to be a good mobile base, then cutting off some small bit of its frame. Even one block will do it. The ship I'm building is still part of the station, it's attached at 2 points at the front end by a line of blocks.
Supposedly this was patched almost a year ago, but here it is now.
Hello, Floofy Redhead,
sorry to hear that you are experiencing this issue.
From the text it seems like issue/wrong setting of your world, though. Can you please check in the Advanced options your settings of Unsupported stations?
It should be like this:
ON - unmerged parts stay in STATION status (ships using merge block, disconnecting grid by deleting the connecting armor block)
OFF - unmerged parts are automatically changes into SHIP mode (ship using merge block, disconnecting grid by deleting the connecting armor block, sub-grids on pistons, hinges etc.).
If this issue will persist after changing the setting of Unsupported stations correctly, I fear I would need more info nevertheless. The save file would be best, as you can understand, so I can check the behavior in your exact environment.
Thanks in advance for your reply and possibly for any new info/saves you can provide.
Kind Regards
