Voice Chat and Player beacons quit working...

Started a new server up, but me and a friend are having an issue where when we get farther than 6k out, the Voice Chat and Player beacons/names in the hud quit working, like they just disappear.
Also in the Comm's tab, it shows the player 'Offline' we can still chat in text, but voice and their beacons/names quit showing up.
We've turned the beacons up to max range, so its not that...
Any ideas? having no voice chat, and not being able to tell where they are is proving to be a pretty big issue.
