Unable to upload to Steam Workshop due to blueprint thumbnail size too large
Solved
Apparently a recent update increased the resolution of blueprint thumbnails. This is a major problem because the Steam workshop imposes a hard limit of 1 megabyte for thumbnail files and if your thumbnail is larger than this, the blueprint will fail to upload a non-descriptive error.
Temporary workaround: open the thumbnail in an image editing program and either save it at a lower resolution or with higher compression. If you can get the size before 1024KB it will upload.
Hello, NovaEngie!
Sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue. Could I please ask for a copy of the blueprint you are trying to upload prior to changing the thumbnail?
You can access your save files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Blueprints. Select the correct folder where your blueprint is saved (local or cloud), zip the file and attach it here.
Kind Regards

Hello, NovaEngie!
Thank you for the blueprint and further information. I put the blueprint in different areas and found especially on Earth with lots of trees and mountains in the back, it would knock it over the 1mb if my graphical settings were set to high. I have successfully reproduced the issue and reported it internally.
Kind Regards

Hi,
So we're in update 1.201 and this issue is persisting with an interesting twist. Mind you, I have not had this issue in a very long time, and though I am aware of the work around, the work around is no longer working. When I attempt to edit the thumbnail into a smaller file, the game will overwrite the thumb.png file I just reduced back into it's 1.01Mb version. The game is attempting to publish the blueprint in the temp folder and the blueprint is only being saved to the cloud or the temp folder I just mentioned. Do you have another work around?
Thanks
