Unable to Spawn on Pertam

John-Paul Gow shared this bug 3 years ago
Solved

When I try and start a new game (solar system), I try and select the Pertam Drop pod but I always die within one second with the drop pod blowing up too, we either spawn within the voxals or too close to the planet and crash and die straight away, the other fun one is I will fall through the drop pod upon spawning and die, while this is happening I never leave the respawn select menu and the streaming keeps spinning at the bottom center of the screen.

any more info needed just ask

Hello, John-Paul,

thanks for letting us know your issue. However, we did not manage it to reproduce on our side. Spawned probably 50+ times on Pertam and did not notice behavior that you are describing.

Are you running vanilla game or using same mods? Do you have Steam in Online or Offline mode? Does this happen while you play singleplayer, or trying to connect to some server? Did you try to Verify integrity of game files through Steam? Are you starting the game in Creative mode or Survival? Does this happen all the times you are trying to spawn on Pertam, and Pertam only? And last, but not least... are you sure, you have game up to date? Last version that I´m on is v.1.197.069.

Thanks in advance for providing additional info.

Kind Regards

I experience sort of the same issues as John-Paul.

Using SE v1.197.073, have verified integrity of game files, disabled 'experimental mode', using "custom" graphics settings (medium and less).

When creating a new custom game, using the 'Star System', in 'survival' and 'offline' mode (singleplayer), then in 'advanced settings' I set 'limit world size = 100 km', I am only able to spawn at the 'earthlike' planet.

Trying to spawn at any other planet, even the 'moon', or 'space suit / space pod', there is the "character death sound" and it keeps showing the 'streaming...' icon forever. - Perhaps this should be changed upon "death of character", as 'streaming' is not informative when the character dies right after being spawned.

After several tries, noticing that the previous 'respawn pods' or 'body locations' were many hundreds or thousands of KM's away, I remembered the "limit world size" setting. - So creating a new game-world, keeping 'limit world size = unlimited', this time I were able to spawn on the Pertam planet.

Maybe some additional "sanity checks" could be added to the respawn screen, so it issue a warning when the spawn-position is "outside range of 'limit world size' setting"? - I.e. informing the player, that there is a reason for "instant death upon respawn".
