Unable to Join Dedicated Server

Kristian Larkan shared this bug 2 years ago
Won't Fix

Hello,

A friend of mine is unable to connect to my dedicated server. I have had over 8 other individuals be able to connect with no problems. This person can connect to the server and can only get to the spawn menu when he only is displayed the "streaming" logo indefinitely. We have tried un-modded dedicated servers and this didn't help. I have also ensured that ALL ports are open and there is no online interference. For some reason he is able to connect to random public servers and just not mine (even though everyone else who has tried has been successful).

Let me know if you need more information. I have attached the before and after he has tried to spawn. If he waits until the streaming notification disappears nothing happens. If he forces a spawn, everything just blanks out. as seen in the number "2" image.

Hello, Kristian!

Sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue. I appreciate that you have made sure to open your ports but the issue may just be with the user instead. Does this make any difference if you choose EOS/Steam? I have seen a few users have had this issue via EOS but not Steam and it would be great to hear if it is specific for you. We have also had the problem where a user's firewall or antivirus has been the cause of the issue so please get the user to check this.

Can you please get the user to do the following?

  • Verify your game files in Steam
  • Right click on Space Engineers in Steam Library → Properties → Local Files → Verify Integrity of Game Files

  • Delete SpaceEngineers.cfg file
  • It means your game configuration will be deleted
  • You can access your SpaceEngineers.cfg by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.
  • Delete ShaderCache folder
  • Back up your whole Space Engineers Roaming folder and delete it
  • Restart Steam
  • Reinstall VC Redist 2017
  • Update graphic drivers
  • Reinstall the game
  • Make sure your operating system is fully updated

Finally, a log from the user when the issue happens would be useful too.

You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

Kind Regards

Hello, Engineer!

Because there is no new comment from you, and we are unable to reproduce the issue on our own, I will close this thread now as outdated.

If you or any other player will experience this issue again, please make a new thread and provide all needed info there.

Thank you for understanding.

Kind Regards
