Won't Fix
  • Crash prompt : The video card driver crashes
  • The error in the log is : Exception occurred: System.AccessViolationException: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.

  • No mods are installed
  • File integrity has been checked
  • Graphics card driver is up to date

  • My English is poor, so I hope you understand what I mean.

When I installed the [DX9-32bit] test version from Steam and then removed the test version, the crash no longer seemed to occur and I could play the latest version of the game normally.babee8aba6e182d8b77d8389913bb473

Here's how I did it:

Install [DX9-32bit] test version → Run [DX9-32bit] test version → Remove [DX9-32bit] test version → Change [SpaceEngineers. CFG] Settings to [DX11]→ Run game

Hopefully this information will help fix the crash

  • The game crashes when I use full screen windowing.

  • Maybe that's the problem?

Hello, Bu_Yan,

thanks for letting us know about your issue.

I don´t quite follow your last comment. So are you able to run the game (in Windowed or Full screen Window mode)? Only the Full screen mode is crashing the game for you? If yes, I´m happy to hear that!

Regarding the exception you have in log, it´s not very clear either. As you can see here there are various workarounds for players to fix crashing due to this error - from validating the game data, deleting the Roaming folder, moving the game installation folder to C drive, disabling 2nd monitor, uninstalling 3rd party SW, updating drivers... up to the need of actually reinstalling whole Windows.

Unfortunately I can see in log, that you are also using Win11 prev version. Sorry, but this version of Windows is not supported by the game at the moment, and truth be told... may actually be the origin of this exception error you are getting.

Please try to read through the forum thread I shared above, as some of the solutions might help you fix it, or at least make it better for you,

But regarding the Win11, I´m not able to do anything about it currently, or advice you, how you can workaround it.

Will close this thread. Hoping some of the workaround might help you.

Kind Regards
