steam friend game able to connect, but no response

so basically, his world has done quite a few tricks on us, and they are usually resolved the next day (for some mysterious reason) but basically, my friend and i are chatting on discord, so proof of internet connection and so on. But when i try to join his game (friends only, if it matters) i load it up, connect, and then i don´t get a response from the server. Neither by direct connect nor through server menu friend list. also, it shows his server info to have "****" as the ping? i guess it means unreachable. we are also able to play other games together? but yeah, it probably works fine tomorrow, just a bit baffled. please look into it? you game is just best with friends ^-^
