Steam Controller does not work and causes gui flickering

Game recognizes my Steam Controller as "Controller (XBOX 360 For Windows)". After selecting it, gui starts flickering randomly and is not responding to controller inputs.

I managed to find a way to solve this problem using Virtual Controller app:

1. Install and run Virtual Controller;

2. Settings -> IO Devices -> Virtual -> Setup -> Xbox 360 Gamepad (vXbox) -> Install;

3. Proceed the installation and reboot your PC;

4. Run SE and select your SC device in game settings;

5. Switch to Virtual Controller;

6. Settings -> IO Devices -> Virtual -> Setup -> Xbox 360 Gamepad (vXbox) -> Configurate -> Plug In;

7. Switch back to game and voila! Steam Controller now works.

Same problem with both the steam controller and the dualshock 3. They both works perfectly in any other game supporting xbox controllers.

I have this exact issue with my Steam controller too, i have tried forcing on and off steam input as has worked for others and have tried turning xbox support off and on as some reported that works but no luck there either so i am out of ideas.

I did come across a post on here where someone said the steam controller is not supported but i don't know if they speak for Keen or not.

It would be nice to have that support as i quite like the controller bindings on xbox and would like to see them on pc too.

I have even tried numerous community configs and they just result in me being able to look around but not move or interact or anything, this is the only game i have an issue with my steam controller.

I don't think sc is something developers have to make specialized support for. SC emulates xbox controller, so the developers just had to not screw up these things. Recently I got the sc to work while trying to fix this issue using the GloSC. At some point steam detected non-existed second sc device. I selected it in se settings and it worked with no issues at all. Now it's screwed again and i don't remember how to reproduce this bug.

hmm doesnt seem to work for me (it just disables it completely). do you start the virtual controller through steam? what is your desktop configuration for the SC a gamepad configuration?

This virtual controller app seems to mimic a controller via software. If that is the case, and it works. This may suggest that there is a problem with the way SE interfaces with the windows Controller API that is causing this. It certainly does not happen to everyone, but there may some sort of catalyst that breaks it for us.

This solution works. Don't close the Virtual Controller when playing the game.

Ah I see what it is. I'm using a flight stick XBOX controller. The AIRBUS. Any input from it causes it to switch to controller mode. Given the amount of inputs on the stick this is what is causing it. We really need stick support in this game.
