Spotlights going through blocks

Not a Bug

I have run into a bug/glitch with large grid spotlights on a static grid.

I got spotlights above connectors where small ships land. Underneath that area is the underground area of the base with 2-3 layers of armor inbetween + the conveyors going down from the connector that the spotlight is above.

Now the problem (shown in the attachment) is that the lighting goes through all those layers to the underground area. There is a conveyor junction surrounded by armor blocks underneath the connector so that shouldn't be the problem.

I have seen posts about lighting going through walls leading back to 3 years ago, that had the title "2+ years and still no fix", thus noting it would be 5 years without a fix at this point on the matter of lights shining through walls in general.

Will this issue ever be fixed properly? Even starting with spotlights can go far cause that makes even less sense than regular interior lighting with just insane radius as opposed to spotlight light going through multiple layers of armor.

Hi, this is not a bug.

The spotlight light going through blocks is dependent on Shadows quality Graphic setting.

Anything Medium and higher should fix your problem. Just confirm it and save and reload your session and the setting should apply.

Hope this helps.

In case it does not help, then please provide more info.

I play on max settings without problems as I got quite a beefy PC. I just happened to notice it. After posting it and my friend logging off for a bit to then continue (with me not closing SE) it fixed itself. So no idea why it appeared to go through it like there were no blocks blocking it. Didn't make a screenshot afterwards but after he relaunched the server it was fixed.
