Space Engineers won't start. AGAIN.

Baboo85 shared this bug 4 years ago
Solved

Hi all.

I have again the problem that the game won't start.

I have the Steam version of the game.

I haven't played in a month, but nothing changed since then: same pc, same hardware, same drivers, same NET Framework.

What I tried:

- shut off MSI Afterburner and Fraps, to remove overlays (I turned off even the Steam Overlay)

- verified game cache

- uninstalled and redownloaded the game

- deleted the whole %appdata%\SpaceEngineers folder

- rebooted the pc

- tried to reinstall NET Framework from the SpaceEngineers\_CommonRedist

- set the Compatibility to Windows 7 and/or Run as Administrator in the exe file

- Updated the graphics drivers from Nvidia site (version 442), then installed back the drivers of the laptop manufacturer (version 441)

- yell at anything, because why it's not working anymore, again.

I don't know what to do anymore...

Attached the log file.

I haven't any errors, just the splash screen that freezes and nothing happens until I kill the process (in Not Responding state) from task manager.

Please help me with this problem, I had same problem many times in the past, but it was always the MSI Afterburner/Fraps overlays or the game cache.

Ok I managed to start the game, at least.

The problem occurs when using the Nvidia Graphics and/or DirectX 12.

I managed to start the game with the Intel Graphics 630 integrated instead of the Nvidia Graphics by forcing it in the Nvidia Control Panel and by modifying the CFG file.

But if I set back che Nvidia Graphics in the game and then restart, same issue. And now I can't start the game anymore with any graphics.

You need to investigate this, I'm not the only one with this problem (now and even in the past, same problems with the graphics cards).

At least I can play, but I'm between 15 and 25 fps with the lowest video settings, so the problem persist.

I posted on the Unresponsive ticket, but this seems more appropriate as it more matches the issue vie had. I cant get SE to load currently. It never makes it to the Logo screen. I have to force close the application every time i try to run it.

Current Specs:

Win 7

Ryzen 9 3900x

64GB DDR4 3200 MHZ Ram

AMD RX 590 8gb

MSI MPG Gaming Edge Wi-Fi

Things I have tried:

The VRagelibrary.dll swap did not work, Reinstalling Video drivers did not help (they were already at the latest). Trying to run Mod SDK did not work (it error-ed and crashed immediately then complained it could not find the content folder. Perhaps i installed it wrong?) Installing latest .net did not help, Hiding the ShaderCache2 folder and SE.CFG file did not do anything either.

I am reverting to v1.193 to see if that will load.

Hi Just wanted to point out that over on one of the other discussions, a post by the user Sean, helped me out greatly:

"Sean ● 21 hours ago

Following the advice from Stephen below; My game is far better. Still some stuttering here and there, but NOWHERE near as bad as previously.

  1. Download 'Space Engineers - Mod SDK' from your Steam "Tools" library.
  2. Locate the following file in the Mod SDK installation.
    %\steamapps\common\SpaceEngineersModSDK\Bin64_Profile\VRage.Library.dll
    %\steamapps\common\SpaceEngineersModSDK\Bin64_Profile\VRage.Platform.Windows.dll
  3. Copy the Files into your Space Engineers Bin64 folder:
    %\steamapps\common\SpaceEngineers\Bin64
  4. Overwrite the existing files when prompted."

The key for me was to copy both files, the library and windows dll. now SE starts and i can load my saves! I have only had one freeze since this fix, but i only fixed it 15 min ago so there may be more in the future, that said i used my largest world to test it so it may have frozen from that instead. Untill a proper patch is released, give this a try. Hope this helps...

Hi, those solutions didn't solved the problem, but with last patches (I can't say which one because I wasn't playing for a while) now it's working.

I'm able to use my Nvidia Quadro card.

Thank you.
