space engineers wont launch correctly

Won't Fix

So this might already be solved but I'm tired of looking for a solution. I've tried all of the troubleshooting tips on the website and turned off steam overlay but no progress. Every time I run SE it goes through initial startup and then goes to a black screen and doesn't even make it to the menu or the keen software intro. I really enjoy this game and just want to play it again. Any help would be appreciated.

thanks for sharing your issue with us and we are sorry that you are experiencing it in the first place.

You think it is possible you send me the game log and log from Windows event viewer?

You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers. After you run the game and it will crash, locate the most recent files named "SpaceEngineers.log" and "VRageRender-DirectX.log". Copy these and add them here as attachment.

thanks for coming back.

Strangely, there is no error nor exception in the log.

But the behavior that you are mentioning above was already observed here on other threads. Please try some of these workarounds:

- locate the video folder (Steam - speamapps - common - SpaceEngineers - Content) and try to rename it (e.g. to "Video1") or delete it completely

- locate SE file in roaming folder (type %appdata% into your Windows search bar - Roaming - SpaceEngineers) back up the folder to some other place so you won´t loose you saves and mods and delete whole folder from roaming. Run the game again, the file will be created anew with all settings and local files new as well. If the game will launch for you properly, just copy back your saves from the backup file here.

Hope some of this will work for you. Please let me know after you try.

Also, if nothing of these work for you, can you send me also log from Windows Event Viewer after the crash will happen, please?
