Space engineers not stopping after closure

Since the newest update Space engineers will continue to run in the background as reported by steam client in windows 10. I have never had this happen before the latest update.
Steam tries to shut it down but it will sit there running on and on as steam tries to close it. The only way to get it to close is to force the steam client to shut down.
