Space Engineers hangs on splash screen

Rick Speer shared this bug 3 years ago
Won't Fix

Hello, I recently purchased Space Engineers, through Steam. After downloading and installing, when I launch the game, the splash screen comes up for a couple of seconds and then turns white. I have checked task manager and it seems that the memory usage will continue until 2,049, 555 and the processor jumps between 12 and 13%. I have check the forums and I have uninstalled .Net, ran the .Net Removal tool, ran the .Net cleanup tool, restarted the PC, ran the .Net 3.5 framework, installed .Net 4.8 windows update, restarted, and still get the same thing. I have also tried uninstalling DirectX and reinstalling that. I have tried disabling my AV (Norton). I've tried deleting the Roaming\spaceengineers\shadercache2 folder. One thing I have noticed is that I never get a shadercache folder or spaceengineers.cfg file, I've also tried deleting the whole roaming\spaceengineer fold. I have verified game files, uninstalled spaceengineers and re-downloaded the game. I still get the same thing, splash screen for a couple of seconds and then it goes white and sets there. I am attaching the log files and my dxdiag file. Thank you for looking into this.

SO I got it to work. Turns out you need to install all the "optional" windows updates as well. Hope it helps

Thank you, doing all the optional/recommended updates of Windows 7 made it work.
