Space Engineers Full ship get stuck, ned to use gyro for move him

AbeAlpha shared this bug 5 years ago
Outdated

When the ship is overloaded and there are few thrusters, it gets stuck. The gyroscope has to be used a little bit and begins to pick up speed.

Science says that no matter how little ... it would be slowing down little by little

Solution is to use gyro in your ship, sometimes also halp to empty all cargo.

No, the solution is to fix the game; the ship has gyros, being full of cargo is not the problem. The problem is actually a bug with connectors- same ship with no connector = no problems with movement. Put a connector onto it and the ship gets 'stuck' in the air/space and doesn't respond to thrusters input or mouse movement, you have to thrash your mouse around to break the ship free. It's a well known, and very old bug that keen seem unable to fix...

I've begun to think that the game engine is picky about gyroscope orientation. If you don't get them oriented the same way, the game engine gets stuck trying to figure out the gyroscopes before moving anything. Wiggling the mouse would break the deadlock. I'll be trying that out soon.

Hello, Engineers!

Thank you for letting us know this is still an issue. Can you please supply a save file where this issue happens and it can be looked into?

  • You can access your save files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Saves. There should be a folder with your SteamID and your saves.
  • Please zip the file and attach it here. If you are having difficulty attaching files you can optionally use Google Drive. When sharing a google drive link please make sure it is set to be downloadable by anyone with the link.

This is the same world that I shared a video of in a different bug report of the same issue- enjoy :)

Hello, Suicide Neil!

Thank you for providing this. I see this save has quite a few mods in it, is this also happening for you with them removed? I have removed them for testing purposes. I got into one of the ships and filled the inventory to full capacity however, appear to be able to move the ship freely without issue (although a little slow due to it being filled) Could you please provide some reproduction steps for me to try to get this to happen?

It's the same issue as this topic, but I can no longer access this topic ( error 401 ): https://support.keenswh.com/spaceengineers/pc/topic/ships-with-very-bad-thrust-to-weight-ratio-get-stuck

There are instructions and video showing the issue and how to reproduce it there- the issue only happens with certain ships ( those that are heaviest ), in vanilla and with mods. It was determined that there was an issue with connectors- if you remove the connector then the ship can turn freely using gyroscopes, as soon as you replace the connector the ship suddenly gets 'stuck' and you have to thrash the mouse around to break it free again, or add lots of gyros.

Hello, Suicide Neil!

Ah, I see. This is also sadly not viewable from my side either. Thank you for confirming that this does happen without mods. So far, I have not been able to reproduce the issue as the ship is moving as expected and not getting stuck at all. It is interesting that you have narrowed it down to the connectors, I will see if I can get this to happen at all.
