Some but not all small grid thrusters damage large grid blocks
Outdated
It seems that some of the small grid thrusters damage large grid blocks, including heavy armour.
The following thrusters do damage to a large grid such as a landing pad:
- Large Atmo
- Large Hydro
- Small Hydro
The following thrusters do not damage to a large grid such as a landing pad:
- Large Ion
- Small Ion
- Small Atmo
All testing was done vs light and heavy armour at a distance of 1, on Earthlike planet with thruster override set to 100%, on the grid attached to this report. The white pad is light armour, the black pad is heavy. All red blocks were damaged by thrusters.
To my knowledge, this shouldnt be the case to allow players to build landing pads. I feel especially sorry for the large atmos; they're inferior enough as it is.

I'd just like to point out that this is still the case.
It's one of many, many reasons to completely avoid hydrogen thrusters and even large atmos for the most part on small grids. Large Ion / Small atmo are already a vastly superior option for surface to orbit small grids by sheer thrust to mass, but the fact that alternatives actually destroy your landing pad on top of the other disadvantages makes this rather grating.
