Multiplayer: Block groups being deleted randomly at times

Marcel Zachmann shared this bug 5 years ago
Solved

Since the major patch thursday we have problems with our block groups in our base or on ships are being randomly deleted (docking ships to base and disconnecting them throughout multiple times via connector). This turns into deletion of block groups like thrusters on ships which become unavaible for quick turn off/ on and rotor groups on our base that don't work anymore.

We are playing as three people on the scenario Never Surrender.

This also happens for me and my friends in an ordinary survival map, so it's not something specific to the Never Surrender scenario.

Hello! I am having the same problem in our playthrough. We are playing "Easy Start Earth" scenario, and i am hosting it. In our case grid groups disappear, when connected player leaves the game, doesn't matter if he is in cryo chamber or not. If he pulls out his ethernet plug or shuts down his connection intentionally groups will stay. If host closes this world groups will also stay. Looks like it triggers only when player exits to main menu. We tested it with 2 and 3 players on 2 different worlds.

Seeing the same thing. Hope this gets looked at!

Same here. We're running survival on a Solar System, and have the same issue. Can't pinpoint the moment when it happens, though it has happened multiple times, usually on disconnects or server restarts.

Sounds like someone found out that is happens every time a player logs on or off:

I've got about 5 people on my server and this is happening constantly. It doesn't happen when a player logs out, its just at random intervals. Restarting won't affect it nor reconnecting.

Oof, yea I had the same thing happen to me. I was building a base and added some groups to a button panel and than at the end of the session all the groups was gone. :(

Having groups is a core element to this game. With this element broken, the game itself is broken and unplayable. I guess I could be a lone astronaut taking on the universe by myself, but even Elon needs a crew. Fix this.

There is more than only that bug with groups. Sometimes a random item appear in the groups i made, the cockpit or other (not useful) block to group. That always happen with the "Thrusters" group i make.

This may all be related, ...I just posted a bug report as well, because I have two ships, each ship has the same group name "grGyros". When I connect the two ships via "locked" connector, it combines ALL gyros from BOTH ships under either group name, only when I disconnect, does it respect it's own boundaries.

If it is related, I doubt the issue is resolved, because I just posted my bug report today.

When you experience things being deleted, are you "connected" to another ship at the time, that perhaps is "sharing" the same items under identical group names. Strange things is, I can have duplicate cargo storage names, but it appears finicky about identical group names.

Hello, Holy Doggo!

Sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue. As this issue is quite old and marked as solved, please create a new thread with all the relevant information with steps to reproduce the issue in a mod-free world.

Kind Regards

Laura, QA Department
